There are millions of variations of body designs, depending on the environment in which the being evolves. Why should aliens look like us? It is not impossible, but very unlikely. People tend to anthropomorphize everything around them.
Yet everyone is so anxious to find "the chemicals of life" (as we know them) on extra terrestrial objects. Who's to say an alien species has cells like an earth being?
We share common genetic material, see the recent findings on the material from space that landed in Australia.
Aliens do exist, hundreds of thousands of civilizations are humming along as we speak. For every period of development of man there are tens of thousands at the same stage. There are also tens thousands far more advanced. Drake equation/....
