Discover magazine mentioned that some ppl think this is a description of aliens.

From paragraph 4 looks like they are describing an alien encounter. Disk rotating within a disk? UFO? and those aliens seem to have "wings that don't flap" meaning some kind of jetpacks
Well, there's always a chance that the writer was tripping/halucinating, but seems like a cool description

P.S: the plane takes off

I think people really need to keep in mind that much of the bible has been tossed around and mis-translated throughout the centuries.

There's a reason there are a dozen or more versions of the bible in every bookstore.

Wouldn't change the fact that going with your heart is the best choice of all of them.

I don't think there are really aliens, just found this to be interesting. As I mentioned, I found this mentioned inn Discover science magazine discovermagazine.com (20 things you didn't know about aliens) also I never claimed that this was a fact.

I'm not pointing fingers or anything. It's just a general thought about the bible and some of the craziness that some people pull from it. It could quite possibly be referring to aliens. Who knows? It's one thing to follow the teachings of the bible, but I think that following to a T, word for word, is a poor decision. You gotta take a step back and ask yourself what sounds right.

The version he linked--the King James Version of the bible--is more or less a blatant copy of the William Tyndale translation. (William Tyndale was the one who translated it from Greek to English way back in the 1500s and was subsequently killed by the church for making it accessible to people/threatening the status of the guys with big hats.) I'd say that it is probably within reason of a good translation (close to intent) of some of the original Greek scriptures, no?

You made this statement pretty general. Do you mean that anyone reading this is qualified to decide what the Bible means? That's not what the Bible says, fyi. I can quote if you like. People using the Bible to accomplish what they believe is right is responsible for a large share of the bad press attributed to Christianity and the Bible, as opposed to accomplishing what God tells us is right, which is comparatively rare.

You talk about the craziness that some people pull from it, but what's to stop you from being one of those people? And, if we assume that you are an unusually wise person, what's to stop some poor schmoe who reads what you write from thinking it means he knows stuff he didn't know he knew? If you teach people to act in a certain way, you gain some responsibility for their behavior. And a wise person doesn't teach unwise people to trust their own unwise hearts.

A Christian tries to understand God's meaning, rather than infusing it with his own meaning, which is not actually there to begin with. Reading out rather than reading in. Exegesis rather than eisegesis. Or, letting the Bible interpret the Bible.

Don't believe me? Tell me where the Bible says I'm wrong. I'm all ears.

Sorry for the thinking and studying. It's a bad habit. The careful sentence crafting is even worse. Allow me to rephrase so as not to offend your sensibilities.

Good Lord... why are you turning this into an argument? All I'm saying is that there are parts of the bible that require you to take a step back and ask yourself what is feasable to AVOID becoming one of the loons.

I say this because if there is a heaven, and when you get there you are judged on how you lived your life, then pointing a finger and saying "He told me to do it!" probably isn't a good reason for them to hand you a VIP ticket. I don't believe that only doing what religious figureheads tell you to do and going to a big building every week is what God had in mind for following in his way. I believe that those things are the signposts along the path that you must walk by yourself. I believe that making your own decisions and following in your heart what you think is true builds a better relationship with God. The church is there for guidance.

It's a "What would Jesus do" type feeling. Jesus wouldn't kill someone in the name of his father. Jesus wouldn't picket parades with signs that say "My dad hates fags". Jesus wouldn't blatently sin in an attempt to teach the word of God. Jesus would not oust someone because they think or feel differently.

That's what I believe. Nothing you say or quote will change that. You are not reponsible for me when I stand before St. Peter and the pearly gates. Neither is the church. In the end, I am solely responsible for my actions.

Trying to analyze the bible scientifically, is like trying to find religious stirrings while reading On the Origin of Species.
