I'd say you make your own because it's always fun (and I hate giving money to Alienware... makes me feel like I'm a N00B for some reason =P). But why not get the Athlon FX on your self-built computer? You really don't need 400gb of space unless you absolutely need it (which it doesn't seem like it because of your HD choice on the Alienware computer). Get like a 160gb SATA hard drive and invest a little more on the CPU/motherboard combo. You might be able to save a little bit more money on RAM if you choose not to overclock.

Thank you all very much for the tips! Wow, didn't think I'd get this response!

You're right, I think I'm going to buy it myself. After all, my mobo is better than the Aliens when it hit the stores, my memory is better and the HD is better.

As for the processor. I'd love to have the FX-53, to buy it myself and put it in. But it costs sooooo very much more than the AMD64 3500+
When I considered the Alienware, it was because of the processor. It didn't feel like the computer got too expensive even with THAT processor in it. I live in Sweden and here the processor costs approximately 7500kr which is about 975$, ain't that a bitch!
So do you guys maybe know an internet store that sell parts international at a low price?
And then, maybe I'll skip the 400GB HD and use 200GB.

I wouldnt say there crap but they are overpriced......
Statement seconded. They're very nice machines, I would take one in a heartbeat if it only cost as much as a self-built machine.

Given what you're considering, either choice will result in a very nice computer. If you very much like the idea of building your own computer for the first time, go for it.

On the other hand, if you don't have a problem with paying a little extra money for the Alienware, you'll also get a very good computer. (and it looks nice to boot.)

It's kind of like choosing generic cereal for $2/box or the brand-name cereal for $2.50/box. I only happened to choose cereal because that's what I'm eating right now, but you get the point...

depends if you have the time and effort bother. risks are u breaking something, ordering things you have to rma, trouble shotting hassles... where you save money with pc building is carrying over old parts. otherwise some people are better off not doing it themselves.

The Alienware wasn't that more expensive when I choose to pay with British Pounds, but when I clicked over to ?, it was a lot more expensive. You think I can buy it with pounds (an example, probably won't buy it)?

Do you also know another good Custom-Built PC you can by inside of Europe. If I buy it through USA then A LOT of taxes will come included, the US Tax and the Swedish tax!

I'm reading at the Complaint Station right now!

Alienware can suck my balls! A restocking fee? Are they kidding, hell no!

You know, the own-built computer I was thinking of building, that computer parts comes from my work. So I get a discount on every single component in the system. I should be more grateful, because the computer I'm buying there is a lot cheaper than similiar computers around in Sweden.

Here's the website for the company I work at, which sell computers, TVs, stereos, DVD movies, games, TV-consoles, cell phones! Everything you can imagine: www.webhallen.com (It's in Swedish)
And on every product I get a discount. So Alienware can once again "suck my balls"!

Thank you guys for warning me, my mother would shoot a rocket out of her mouth if this'd happen to her.
