maybe slightly off topic but it is hardware...

i haven't been here that long so maybe an old timer can tell me if this is the first time an alienware thread is stickified in hot deals?

yeah, seems odd to me too. strange bedfellows. wonder how much of a premium they had to pay over the other vendor stickys, lol.

Overpriced...pretty much, but there testing is ridiculous. Each computer goes through 5 day non-stop testing to make sure every component works well.

bit overpriced? Good grief! "bit" is quite the understatement! There is so much better for so much cheaper

Wow, I just took a hard look at their prices. Look at what you get for $1700.

Non-dual core 3.2Ghz P4
1GB Ram
80GB HDD
6600GT
No monitor

WTF is that? If someone spends $1700 on a gaming PC and their video card is a 6600GT, something is seriously amiss. And is there a specific reason it costs $330 to upgrade from 1GB RAM to 2GB?

So, lets price out a "serious" system.

Dual-core 3.0 Ghz P4
7800GTX
2GB RAM
250GB SATA HDD
2 Opticals, one writer
Audigy2

Grand total. . .? $2711

If anyone's wondering why I chose the 3.0 dual-core over, say, the 3.2 duallie, it's because Alienware wants an additional $420 for the upgrade.

That dual-core isn't a serious system, well at least on these forums.

hell, they have a few "gaming" rigs configured on the front section that have 9550se's.

anyway, i just thought it odd that they are even stickied. i vaguely remember seeing an add from them once in the general forums, i think anyway, maybe i'm wrong.

but i didn't expect to see them having a stickied thread in hot deals like newegg and mushkin etc. $$ talks i guess.
