I was thinking about getting this for my girlfriend for her bday in late March, but I'm afraid of a few things.

She likes to play games with me like Left4Dead or Borderlands, but gaming isn't that important (unless I borrow it for a while) since she has a good desktop. But at the same time I want something that's powerful enough to remain useful for more than a couple years. Should I just wait for a SB deal later on in late Feb?

Also, this might be too gaudy for a girl =\

balderdash. i have an r1 and it plays crysis fine on medium settings. in fact it plays most games fine, newer games usually on medium settings. the only game i've come across that is just not playable even at lowest settings is battlefield bc2.

basically there's nothing else in this class that performs like this, excepting of course the r2.

just two things to be aware of:

1. stable overclock to 1.73 GHz is not guaranteed. there's a bios option to enable or disable and that's it - no fsb or voltage control.

2. hinges. not the best. for some people, a big problem.
