Of course, there may be a new rebate tomorrow...but YMMV on that.

Yeah, with my luck if I decide to buy today, will be $10 cheaper tomorrow.

i believe @$20 it's already below manufacturing costs. God knows how these companies could make money on them.

They make money because only 1/3 of them will be rebated, by hook or crook. :|

Unless they go out of business, they will never get out of paying me a rebate! :Q

Took me about 9 months on my longest rebate. One with Office Depot. I started climbing up the corporate ladder until I received my check. Strangely enough, they never validated the original rebate when sending me the check and I actually received the "original" rebate 4 years later. No, I didn't give it back either! :Q

Well, Office Depot actually cut a special corporate check and sent it to me 9 months after I filed the rebate. The "original" rebate sat dormant for 4 years and was finally filled, giving me "two" rebates for the same item. I kept both and wasn't gonig to send $20 back to them after all the trouble that I had gone through to get it the first time.

Back on topic, I received my 2nd order today and they were Micron D9 chips (as posted earlier). So one set of Hynix and one set of Microns. Now to build something around them all!

Lame, one of my sticks was broken and I already mailed the rebate in so I cant return it.

Anyone know how long crucial takes to RMA?

I don't know about now, but a few years ago they had a very quick turnaround. IIRC, you had the option to "cross ship" but you had to give them a credit card. Otherwise, you could send it in and they would do about a two day turnaround on shipping back to you. Of course, things could have changed since then as that was about 5 years ago.

Sorry to hear about your broken stick. I too have sent one rebate in without testing...I guess I should test them all now, or at least test the other two sticks before I send off for the 2nd rebate.

I think I should get it today. see if santa arrived when I get home. Anyways, what's the warranty on these? not that it matters much at 20 a pop.

Update: actually got D9s!! Wow!
just did a quick test, stable at 1.8v, 5-5-5-15, DDR900, but not failed at DDR950 same timings. Not bad for $20.

After a little while longer testing, I managed DDR2-960 6-5-5-15 @ 1.8V with my Micron D9HNP. They didn't post at 980 or at 960 6-4-4-12 or 5-5-5-15, so unless I feel like tweaking some more, I've probably hit my sweet spot.

Picking up another set for 8gb!

Latency really means nothing with applications that actually require this much ram. Actually, latency makes little to no difference in real life applications as well.

Since its on again ..... What is the success rate and or avg turn around time on these rebates? I am about to bite on the 4 gb SODIMM's and the 4 gb Desktop Memory I called their Rebate status line at 866-251-9541 (answered quickly -wow) and they said I can do both rebates as long as they are different offer codes.

Crucial/Lexar use several rebate houses, so the turn-around time is variable, but most are 1-2 months. The good news is that I have never been stiffed on Crucial/Lexar/Micron (I've gotten probably over $1000 on their rebates in the last 3 years). As long as you follow the rules, you'll get it.
