Compusa has a 5 port usb 2.0 pci card on sale starting tomorrow for 19.99 (no mail in rebates).
Seems like a good deal if you need usb 2.0

They also have a 3 port firewire card for 19.99 no rebates as well. If you missed it last time you can get it now!

It's $19.63 - $10 MIR. I bought one about a month ago and it works great.

Compgeeks has a 5-port USB 2.0 controller card for about $15 using a 10% off coupon. Shipping is about $5 however.

Thanks for posting this deal. I'll be there to get one @ $19.99. By 5 ports, I'm assuming that 4 are external and 1 is internal to give you a total count of 5. That seems to be a typical configuration.

Here's a link to the item:

i know that card. it's exactly that config (if i got the model right). i've been checking it every week to see if it would be lower with the discount. $22.61 was the best so far
much thanks. i hate ordering online-- and rebates, so this is perfect for my mom's hp (only two usb ports)

That would be for like hooking up front usb ports on a case.
The card utilizes a PCI slot on your motherboard. Through the back card slot, 4 ports will be present at the rear of your computer case. Plus, this particular card has an internal USB connector - for connecting front-mounted USB devices, if needed. Plus, as icing on the cake, it's USB 2.0 compatible.

I think this thing normally sells for about $39.00. The last time I was at Best Buy, they had one for $39.00 before a $10 rebate - but rebates stink!

I was confused, too, and spent around 20 minutes at CompUSA looking for a CompUSA-branded USB 2.0 PCI card. Finally, I had the bright idea of looking in a sales flyer and that set me straight (I bought 2). I've got a Cendyne DVD burner (Pioneer A04) coming from OfficeMax, and I'm going to make it an external device using a $50 enclosure that a local computer store carries. CompUSA wants $100 for their 5.25" USB 2.0 enclosure.

Or possibly internal devices using USB (this should become more common now that USB is fast enough, like firewire, to run drives). I've seen internal kits to daisy chain drives and whatnot off the internal firewire port many cards have, I guess to get around IDE device limits (ant not require SCSI). I few places sell IDE to Firewire converters that just plug into the back of the drive but still allow for case mounting, I suspect we'll see USB2 versions real soon.

I bought the 2 port card from buy.com a couple weeks ago, guess I should have waited I'm off to pick up this one now.

Thanks for this deal ! Just hooked it up to Abit KX7-333 board running winXP pro. Native winXp drivers worked fine. The Abit's limit of only 4 USB ports and no USB 2.0 is not an issue now.

Yeah, I better snag this too. Huge difference between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. I'm also getting a external hard drive enclosure that offers USB 2.0/Firewire, so transfer speeds need to be fast.
