Great card. Get them before gone, the company that ownes the Orinoco brand now has made a cheaper chipset that is not as good. At least in my experience.

These are perfect. Get yourself a Toshiba SG20 router and you have the _perfect_ firewall. SG20's can be had on eBay for $190.

yes, 1150 has the connector port. you can buy the MC cable, 5 dB antenna for ~$75 shipped at fab-corp.com

or MC cable and N connector ($33 shipped) and build your own antenna using a soup can (~15 dB). 3x gain, less than half the cost..just build it yourself

get on google and search for "cantenna" there are tons of reference sites. You can also catch some on ebay as well...

You use the "barrel-sized" can (that is actually the size of a soup can) to do some war driving or you just use it as a stationary attenna in your household.

Would this also work for increasing the range of a router by using it as a substitute antenna?

My netgear has a 3dB antenna that comes with it. This would be cool to blast farther, no?

Check out this page Cantenna homepage or this one A lil' how-to, I found the last one to be a good reference (lots of nice links as well).
Also the home page of Orinoco Wireless has their own antenna that they make (but they run a hefty price and hefty size). Another cool things is to make one out of a Satellite Dish, but I'm not sure the range on those. I rather connect the antenna to the Access Point instead of a wireless card, because like BlipBlop stated...what is the point of having a wireless card if you have to lug around an antenna.
