I updated the firmware on my card using the instructions from the Y-K site. No problems! My laptop recognizes the card as a Orinoco now. I do have a slight problem with using the Client, and I don't know if it has anything to do with having installed the Dell Client Manager first.

does it matter if the card is recognized as a orinoco or a 1150 card???

I finally received my card on the 8th day of order. bought it at $52 but called in for additional 10% adjustment then call in again for Free shipping the next day....... customer service do suck but they try their best to keep us from speaking from anyone..... but when you do I find them really nice.

I am typing this on my laptop with the truemobile but it is dropping connection..... now I need help configuring the WEP.... I suck at configuring this.... I assume the Dlink 711 uses 26digit hex for 128bit wep. So I put that in my windows configuration and it seem to work for a while and then dies. I did not install the dell client... since the manual says XP has the drivers already. I get pretty good download at 1.2Mb/s So what did I do wrong.....

I thought this card was already "gold". (i.e. - 128 bit WEP)

Dell coupons usually expire the same day at 11:00 PM CST it's been this way for a very long time.

I have been have the same problem with two 4550 systems I purchased in Jan which they shipped out with PC2100 memory when it should have been PC2700. :disgust:
