They've lowered the price of the refurbished A7N8X Deluxe to $79. They seem to have quite a bit in stock, about 98. Maybe they'll lower it even more if we wait on it. I'll snatch one at $69. So for people who have gotten this how is this refurbished board? What did it come with?

the rev 1.04 now does 200 fsb. They released the new 1004 bios which made it simple and the 1.xxx series mobos are shown to be suppported with the new 3200+ on asus's website.

In case you all didn't know, all ASUS motherboards have 3 year warranties. They're fixing my year-old NewEgg refurb A7M266-D without any argument.

remember, you are not guaranteed to get an IO plate with this board, which is a major bummer as it has a nonstandard ATX rear configuration. still a good board but i would recommned the NF7-S for a full-feaured nF2 board.

So where is everyone getting the accessories this board did not come with?

The retail comes with:

2-Port 1394 Bracket (Deluxe Model)(Only thing I need at the moment)

9-pin COM cable(What's this for?)

SATA Cable (Deluxe Model)(SATA Not widely supported yet, right?)
I/O Shield(Don't really need it but nice to have it)
2-port USB 2.0(Deluxe Model) / Game port bracket(The 4 ports of USB 2.0 already on the board is good enough for me, for the gameport i'll use my Turtle Beach depending on which sounds better)

UltraDMA 133/100/66 cable (Have that)
FDD cable (Have that)
UltraDMA 133 cable (Have that)
User's Manual / Quick Reference Guide(On their website)

Geez, do we need a FAQ for this? In every refurb thread the same questions are asked over and over again.

Summary:
Because of how the Asus refurb system works, you will only get the bare board. You will not get any accessories or a backplate, because that's how Asus works.
You can get all the accessories from Asus tech support for $20 shipped. Does that still make this a hot deal? You judge.
Alternatively, you can buy the backplate off of ebay for under $7.

Thanks for the list; these are all pictured at newegg.com but now I know exactly what's missing so as to decide if this is worth getting or not. Besides ebay, any online retailers selling the I/O backplate or FireWire bracket?

Anyone know how well this board is supported by Linux? Specifically, the integrated audio and the new I/O.

Works great for me. I've installed Gentoo on my system. The 3Com NIC has driver support in the 2.5 kernel series (don't know about 2.4, as I don't run it). The on-board sound works with the Intel8x0 ALSA drivers, so again you have built-in support with the 2.5 kernel. The nVidia NIC works under Linux with a binary only driver from nVidia. Only problem I have is I can't get APCI to work (locks my system every time I load a kernel with it enabled).

I assume these are the 1.xx PCB boards. Anybody seen a 2.0 out of Newegg, yet?

I appreciate the Linux info. Is there any web site that covers Linux support for nforce2?

I'm not too familiar with ACPI (besides having it enabled). What does it do for desktop systems under Linux?

Most likely, I'll end up ordering one unless someone cleans out the last 30 in a flash. I'm a bit put off by not having the I/O backplate and FireWire bracket though.

I was able to call asus and get the backplate and firewire connectors for free, no questions. However if you want ALL the accessories, you probably have to pay for it.

most of the first revision boards do 400fsb fine btw.

my msi k7n2g-l runs fine at 400bus with no mods. the only bad thing is its 400fsb max.

I just ordered a board at Newegg. I'm a new customer. Their ordering forms are some of the most convoluted I have ever seen, and I've seen scores of online retailers checkout systems dating back a number of years.

I added the free Tee Shirt, and contrary to the promotion/product description, a credit does NOT appear at the order confirmation page. Guess I'll email them to make sure they charge the proper amount.

Now I'm wondering if this thing really does dual channel DDR as advertised:

You will definitely be happy with the NF7-S.
Try 2500+Barton at 200FSB
Also, I'm not sure, but the v2 apparently is the only pure SoundStorm out there.
You will be happy with the Abit

Go ahead, bash me if I'm wrong.

i got one of these board from newegg... refurb asus a7n8x deluxe... and when i try to install this mobo... i keep getting blue screen and freezes when i try to install windows xp w/ sp1... this also happen to my friend too when he bought this refurb board...

i went to frys and picked a new board... supports 400mhz fsb, everything is the same as i did before with the refurb board and i have NO problems... runs stable for a day now

planning to exchange refurb mobo to newegg and get a new a7n8x deluxe from them and return the one at frys

i think the refurb is not worth it anywayz because it comes bare, no i/o shield, firewire port, extra usb, ide cables... i think its all worth it

amd 2500+ barton
mushkin 2x256 pc3200 ddr ram
asus a7n8x deluxe ver. 2.0
120gb western digital 8mb hdd
nvidia mx440 ddr 64mb ram <-- old vid card

Same thing happened to me. I emailed them, and they refunded the $10 right away.
Now, I am hoping that this thing works well when I get it. If not, I'll just RMA it for a new one.
I'll be giving it a solid test before it ever gets into my box.

Extra Parts: I got them from Asus, they charged me $15 for the whole 'accessory' kit (It had everything, CD's, Manuals, cables, backplanes, etc) and I think it was $5 for shipping.

How do you guys figure out how many are in stock at NewEgg?

I've had nothing but good luck with refurbs from newegg. I've done a motherboard, keyboard, sound card, and video card so far with exactly zero problems.

I wish newegg sold refurbed cars -- that'd be cool!

Try to order 99. The number that actually appears in your shopping cart is the number they have in stock.
