Ordered yesterday just before noon. FedEx delivered both the motherboard and the tee shirt, shipped separately, today before noon.

Charge hasn't shown up on my CC yet to verify the free tee shirt credit. I got a reply from a CSR, and he claimed the free tee shirt does not apply to refurbished motherboards, but he made a one-time exception. But the Asus A7N8X refurb page clearly shows the free shirt promo does apply; I certainly wouldn't pay $10 for it.

I got a whitebox Rev. 1.04 board like everybody else; now I just have to acquire an I/O panel and some RAM, and I can get down to business. I don't think I need the FireWire bracket because I have an Antec case w/ front I/O ports.

All in all, a great first experience with Newegg. The only (mild) complaints are checkout pages that are messy, and the free tee shirt credit not automatically appearing. But the overnight service more than makes up for that. Hope I'm as happy w/ the A7N8X and Nforce2 as many others are. It's only too bad Fry's gave me a Tbred A CPU.

in terms of performance, is there much of a diff. between the Deluxe MB and the regular model?

deluxe just adds extra features. (which are worth the $$, in my opinion.)

I bought two of these from Newegg.com on May 19th. Wish I'd stuck with my original plan to buy retail Abit MBs instead. One was unstable and crashed while flashing the BIOS...rendering it useless. The other rebooted spontaneously for no good reason from time to time, though it did take the BIOS update. Incidentally, I was using two JIUHB XP1700+ processors with copper heatsinks and fans. They are kick ass processors, by the way, but everyone knows this already.

Neither motherboard would accept my new OC System PC3200 CAS2, CL2 RAM at any speed above PC2100..even at very conservative CAS settings. Ok, the RAM problem is probably because A7N8X boards are known to be VERY picky on RAM, so beware this combo.

It was all too much drama. I RMA'd the MBs back today for a refund...less my hard earned 15% lesson/restocking fee. I also returned the OC System memory...all four sticks of 512MB goodness. I was most disappointed in the RAM. They only charged me a $10 RMA fee to cover the free shipping when I ordered it. I figure that was ok.

I'm just throwing in my experience in case anyone else is thinking about the above combo or just the refurb MBs. Go for it if you like to tinker like I do, but definitely be prepared to give up some RMA $$$ if it doesn't work out.

This is very tempting. Found "i o shield" by searching for same on eGay. I have had bad experiences with refurb products before so I will have to pass this one up. If it was a Abit NF7-S it would be more difficult to pass up imho.

I have had Excellent luck with refurbs from Newegg.
I have always received the full supply of goodies ,maybe Irish luck .

And I agree with previous comment about quantity of refurbs and change of chipsets
definite correlation.
If new chipset is coming out people will test the current setup and return it if they think they can get better at no expense.

To those who purchased the accessories directly from Asus, how did you do so? I looked all around and couldn't find squat!

I sent an email to rma@asus.com asking how to obtain the accessories. She emailed me back with a .doc file attachement for me to fill out and sign, and fax it back to her (your signature and credit card number)

I didn't have a fax machine so I used the online fax service Fax1 which lets you send a few faxes for free.

I haven't received the accessories yet, but she said she was going to mail them out last Monday.

I have a question to anyone whoever has or bought a refurbished case from newegg. Anyone know the condition of these cases. Are these gonna come with dents and scratches?

I have bought two refurb cases from Newegg. They were both Lian Li. The first came with everything. I couldn't tell it from new. The second was in new condition but was missing all the motherboard mounting hardware and also the power supply bracket.

tell me how it goes. I'm also thinking of getting it from ASUS. i've seen it for around $12.49 on ebay which is more than half the price at ASUS for just the back I/O plate.

Yes the $20 includes the shipping cost. I ordered it Monday and haven't received it yet(opposite end of the country though). I sent them another email asking who they mailed it out with.

Update: I'm beginning to wonder if they even mailed it out to me, as my credit card hasn't even been charged. So far no reply back from Asus either.

If you didn't get the I/O shield for this puppy just call the ASUS RMA number on their website. I did and the nice lady said she would send me one out for absolutely zippo!!
