It's good. We shouldn't have gotten back together in 2007 when we did it once before. I was feeling trapped by a new girl that someone turned into an SO after 8 months and then my wife recanted mostly because of our pets I found tonight. It was going on 11 years in December.
She wasn't happy hence just allowing me to do whatever, I wasn't happy now that I am looking for more in my life.
We are both happy now about it. She wants about $12000-18000 to move to Japan and start over, she has $6500 fully vested in her 401k and her engagement ring ballparks around $4500-5700 right now wholesale ($4300-4500 stone, $1100-1200 platinum setting). I'd assume her car which is about $2-4k upside down (it just turned 1 year old exactly this week with 7800 miles on it) and not just let it go back to the bank (it's in her name only). I could re-sell my M3 at a bit of a profit, but I don't want to be rolling in a Mazda 3. I could have worked with a MS3, but it wasn't cute enough for her and I was buying her what she wanted, not what I wanted. Divorce will take at least 90 days from when we file it. So she can save her money over 3 months, take the ring proceeds and her 401K minus penalty / taxes and she will be right over $13-14k probably. I eat the $4k in her car and she basically gets $18k and clean credit if she ever comes back the the US, plus probably a bonus for paying a car off in under 2 years.
I keep all my shit, she keeps her's. I told her she can have her MacBook Pro, but I'd like to sell her iPhone with mine to get a iPhone 5 64GB free. She can take her digicams, all the watches, etc. I really don't care.
This does throw a wrench in my foreclosure. I have an email out to my lawyer now looking to do a modification now. She'd die if I got rid of our pets (my dog is a definite keeper)...so I think I can at least work out a deal. The bank was pretty close with the last mod they offered except had it at a higher interest rate and 40 year term with a balloon payment with no credit for any of the 50+ payments I have made. If I can get those payments applied, a bit of principal reduction and 4.5% APR/30 years I can deal. Even their old modification halved my payments...I want to be about 50% under that in order to keep this place. Outside of that I will just have to rent a house about $2000 or so to work it out, but I'd still probably have to shed some pets to do it. That crappy modification put me at about $1100 a month.
