How is that RGB mode any different from the GS3 or other OLED screens? They've always been good at that. This is definitely not a game changer, at least not from that perspective. Also, it'd be nice if someone could translate what theyr'e saying...

Gs3 didn't have an RGB mode. The gs4 has the most accurate colours of the 3 phones. Actually the iPhone 5 and HTC one are are a lot cooler than the gs4. So they have a blue tint. Not the gs3.

How do we know that this is a Samsung tax and not AT&T trying to price gouge it's subscribers?
The only way to know if it's a Samsung tax would be if all the carriers raised prices on the Galaxy S4 along with them choosing NOT raising the price of the next iPhone and comparing top tier phones from HTC/LG/Motorola.

If the prices for all Galaxy S4 phones on all US carriers go up, while the prices for top end comparable phones from HTC/LG/Motorola remain at $200 and the next Apple iPhone 5S/5GS/5"Whatever" is still $200 with contract, then yes I'd say it's definitely a Samsung tax.

You're right. I do not know if it's 100% Samsung tax and not carrier tax. But my guess is Samsung tax.

Lucky for me as I live in ma but on the boarder or NH so no tax for me!!!

The note 2 was and still is 299 with a 2 year so 249 is exactly where I figured a 5in Samsung flagship would be priced at.Lets just be happy its not 599 with a 2 year like when the first iphone came out

Note 2 should be $250 and the S4 should be $200. Anything more is overpriced and price gouging.

You can see how affected people are by carrier subsidies when everyone is calling the S4 "a $250 phone".

The S4 is a ~£600/$900 high end, luxury piece of tech in the same vein as a high end PC video card or an expensive DSLR. Yet to most it ranks alongside something like an e-reader for financial frivolity. When you take a 2yr contact on something like this you are taking out a loan for a high end piece of technology. Why is this considered sensible when, to most at least, the idea of doing this for say a new camera would be considered financially inept.

I guess most of this is more targeted at my fellow Brits who always have the choice of BYOD and cheap monthly tariffs. I wonder if T-Mobile's Uncarrier plans will make people finally twig how much money they're bleeding for these devices.

If I'm going to be raped by my carrier, I expect flagship phones to be $200 subsidized.

Why even link to a SONY site? The same phone is most likely cheaper elsewhere...
Because that proves my point. Sony is trying to price gouge it's fanboys to see how much they're willing to pay for a Sony product directly from Sony themselves.

Why complain about AT&T's $250 price when you will be able to get it for cheaper at WireFly, Amazon, and many other places then?

Assuming Samsung fixes the yield issues, I predict the Galaxy Note III will be an "all Exynos" affair with no hardware fragmentation.
Well, yes and no. Yes, I expect all Exynos like the Note 2. No, I don't expect that the link means all 20 bands *on a single device*. So you'll still have different models for different regions with different band combinations.

No, that's not what I meant. I meant that in the Adobe RGB range AMOLED always scored above and beyond LCDs. This is common knowledge.

I'm surprise you don't see the difference...

I don't understand why you'd think anyone is getting "gouged". Is someone forcing you to buy that phone? They should charge whatever amount people are willing to pay for it. If people are willing to pay $1500 for a phone, then that's what they should charge for it.

I personally think it's getting ridiculous with the prices of the phones, I'm not going to shell out $300 and be stuck to a contract just to have some new phone every 2 years.

So this means one can purchase an international version and use it in the U.S. with any carrier? I assume 3G/HSPA are taken care of (at least with the S4), so if it covers all LTE I see no reason why not.

The internal qualcomm 3g/4g chip (even if you get the exynos, samsung uses qualcomm for the lte chip) can support all 20 bands.

That does not mean the antenna used will be able to support all bands. They may use an antenna that only supports certain frequencies for cost reasons.

SGS4 has LTE and supports ALL 20 bands.
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/03/28/samsung-exynos-confimed-lte-exynos-5-octa/#.UVSOhPpL3P4.twitter

Too bad I may end up skipping it due to the custom ROM scene and me being hooked on Nexus hardware pricing.
Assuming Samsung fixes the yield issues, I predict the Galaxy Note III will be an "all Exynos" affair with no hardware fragmentation.

probably have to re-evaluate after the next Nexus. If Google steps up its game, then I think there's no reason to consider the GS4/GN3 unless ROM development somehow explodes. We'll see though...

It's really too early to tell, but I think Verizon left a bad taste in Googles mouth with the way they handle the Galaxy Nexus.

It's pretty easy to tell. There won't be any more Nexus phones specifically built for Verizon.

You probably won't see any for the next 2-3+ years until all the carriers have adopted VoLTE which uses LTE SIM for voice(no CDMA radio) and data and also when Qualcomm/Broadcom/Intel/Icera/whoever else I'm missing learns to fit 20-40 working LTE bands on a single chip in a phone without requiring massive antennas sticking out.

You'll be waiting a while, Bob.

Why would Samsung lie in their tweets? And even if there may be more than 20 LTE bands, the question is what matters in practice. If the modem doesn't support "LightSquared's" LTE band, I wouldn't complain. That's a reasonable compromise.

My concern is how well-informed the person who tweeted LTE compatibility. Some are saying those models are only be available in Korea. :*(

Maybe they meant to say that Exynos supports all 20 LTE bands that the Qualcomm LTE chip supports?
If Qualcomm has an LTE chip that supports 20 LTE bands and Samsung says their Exynos phones using a Qualcomm LTE chip supports all 20 LTE bands, is it any different?

People are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Could the person that tweeted have worded their statement better? Sure.
