Even the Exynos 5 version of the GS4 only beats out the Nexus 4, by a large degree in the GPU. We've already gotten some preliminary benches of the Exynos 5 and it's only about par with the 1.9GHz Krait 300 in the GS4.

But not only that, but no it won't blow away the N4. They're fairly comparable.

Presuming that we're talking about the S600-based SGS4 and not the Exynos 5 version.
Well, that's if you just look at SOC.

The S4 camera, screen, and storage capacity do blow away the N4, as does LTE if you're on AT&T. But not per dollar.

According to many here, the Exynos 5 was a monster of a SoC? According to you, that's not the case. Seeing that it's a power hog, what advantages does it have over the Qualcomm chip?

It still has a far faster GPU (the PowerVR) and it's still faster overall than the Krait 300, just not by a huge margin as suspected.

As for power usage, we'll have to see when the reviews of the Exynos 5 GS4 comes out. The big.little technique should probably work anyway.

Also, not "according to me". It's according to "leaked" benchmarks (which may or may not be accurate). I don't go around claiming to be the end all of discussion.

I'll take the One's better construction and feel (assuming). Who the hell buys and recharges extra batteries and carries them around with them? I have never met a soul in my life who does that other than people on internet forums (who also watch 20gb 1080p bluray movies on their 4.5 inch screen).

You don't always play the huge 1080p file on the phone's screen (I personally never do it), that is what HDMI out is for.

Well I think a few more people buy removable batteries. But I can tell you I only know about 2-3 people who do that who are NOT internet geeks like us. Even though I had that ability on my SGS2 and Nexus S, I only did so when on vacation like requiring 1 full day outdoors. But even without it I'd try my best to survive on a single day's worth of battery. I just think it's excessive to carry a battery in my pocket given limited space already.

So you carry an HDMI wire and an extra battery with you?

Extra battery, yes. Every day.

MHL adaptor sometimes (EVERYTIME I travel). Part of the reason is that I have one battery charger at home and MHL cables everywhere- up at work, at my parents place, at a few friends places. It is a great thing to give as a gift because then they have one when I visit.

As far as HDMI cables, I bring one for hotel TVs and just poach one from a cablebox/console/DVD player when I need it otherwise.

I don't know of any either, but I do know several people who own multiple batteries. One stays at home, one at work, one in the car, etc. Nobody said you had to carry the batteries around with you all the time.

Batteries need to be replaced. Not swapped. Replaced.
I only seem to get about 18 months out of a battery before I have to to charge my phone twice a day with light usage.
That includes phones like old BB's to Droid's and iPhones.
The ifixit's rating of the HTC One is 1.
Not good.

You know what, this might be my next just because of the size of the device. I feel as though the Droid DNA is too tall for me to work it properly especially with it's home button on the top of the device. It's definitely not that much smaller, but it's small enough that it would be a huge difference to me.

The one thing I'll miss with the S4 is the wide angle lens you get on HTC devices. I love the huge area the FFC offers and the wide 16:9 aspect ratio the camera offers as well.

Sony Xperia Z gets a beating on dxomark
http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Mobiles/Sony-Xperia-Z-A-new-contender-in-the-smartphone-arena
I simply dont understand the camera. The pics i have seen on the net is often very bad.
Probably its sony making this sensor, and the same used in s4 and probably the upcomming ip5s. But the pics in the s4 looks much better ????
Do Sony cripple their camera or software, just to sell the sensor to others ? - i mean they have the best sensor tech for cameras in general and is really on a roll. Its very wierd. They have the sensor in the s3 and the ip5 - its the same one. (on some markets samsung uses their own sensor)

Friend does it for the SGS3. Battery life on that thing is like 4-6 hours on a full charge with some frequent texting. Swaps out battery at least once a day, has a rotation going on with spare batteries. If you're out most of the day and use your phone often, you'll need more than a full charge.

He's done something to screw up his phone then. He should get much better battery time than that if he's just texting.

It's a she... basically one of those people who's on the phone constantly. Wouldn't it be the screen draining the life at that point? We're talking about stock settings, AT&T LTE, not much running in the background besides the various texting apps. And I'm pretty sure the S3's battery life wasn't that great to begin with.

Could be a number of different things, for example with AMOLED screens, simple things like making your background black/dark as opposed to a bright color can have some good battery savings. Or maybe reception isn't that great for her which would affect battery.

Well, that's a matter for another time (not to derail this thread), but the point is that there's still use for battery swapping. Looking online even some of the best normal usage dies out at after 15 hours. It's more practical to charge batteries at night and carry them fully charged rather than carrying a charging and having to stop and charge.
