I heard Samsung is releasing a firmware update this week.

Do we need to download it from Google Play Store?

Picked up an S4 today. Went in with a plan to get an S3 for way cheaper, since its XDA community is pumping like crazy, was all excited for an AOSP ROM. Got talked into the S4 by the hot Best Buy girl, and thought there'd be a good start on AOSP stuff by now. But it seems like there's not much happening so far in the S4 world.
Sounds like CM is pretty flakey still. Is there anything else worth trying? I NEED my Holo. I'm considering taking it back tomorrow if there's no alternative to get this touchwiz off this sweet phone.

Anyone tried Revolt?

I use the FoxHound ROM from the i9505 international on my AT&T phone. Great mix of AOSP with TW. AOSP looks with the good from TW. This is the first Android phone where I won't use AOSP as a daily because of the removal of certain useful features and lack of full hardware support (air view/gestures, camera, ir blaster mostly). I'm still running FoxHound 0.2, as it includes the Nottach Exposed mod built-in, with the KTweaker Kernel and I'm loving it.

I find current S4 CM as stable as my S2 ever got.

With that said there are some obvious large things the community is waiting to fix to see if Google does it first.

Yup I love that ROM, using it for over a week. But 0.2 has broken NFC.

Are you running CM right now poofy?

Did some more reading, looks like CM, Paranoid, and SlimBean are my best three options for my Canadian version. Any opinions between those three?

Like an idiot, I went to the local VZW store to try to get them to give me a replacement S4 (battery issues) without having to wait for the shipment. Result: terrible customer service, basically told "all smartphones have shitty battery life, sorry," and sent packing. Waste of an hour.

Called VZW customer support on the way home. Result: replacement device ordered within 15 minutes.

I should have known...

Keep the Galaxy S4.

You'll be very disappointed in the Galaxy S3. The design of the Galaxy S4 is much, much better.

I use Nova Launcher and it gets rid of most of the TW bloat.

Yeah. NEVER NEVER go into the store to get stuff done. i just go in to handle the phone itself before i decide what i want. then go home and do it online or on the phone.

I guess it varies by store. I went into one of my local stores because of my Wifi issue, and walked out with a new device 20 minutes later. At first they were going to have one sent to me, but they said the warehouse was out, and it would be quicker if they just gave me one in store, so they went to the back and came out with a new S4.

The "customer service" asshat actually asked me if I was comparing to battery benchmarks "from a blogger in his Mom's basement." I kid you not.

That's when I walked out.

Better idea: get an iphone (pending what is said at WWDC of course) - I dumped my S3 for an iphone the second I saw reception issues weren't fixed on the S4. So done with Android devices...

I don't feel like carrying a magnifying glass around with me.
Sorry, been there, done with that.

So wait, you bought an iPhone 5 just recently, VERY late in its life cycle?

Not good advice no matter your priorities.

There were/are no issues. Stop trying to get a rise out of someone.
