** ripped from FW and me driving over there **

AMD opteron 175 Dual-Core 2.2GHz 1MB (per core) 64/32-Bit (939) $516.00 minus $40 = $476

AMD opteron 170 Dual-Core 2.0GHz 1MB (per core) 64/32-Bit (939) $401.00 minus $38 = $363

AMD opteron 165 Dual-Core 1.8GHz 1MB (per core) 64/32-Bit (939) $337.67 minus $66 = $271.67

** The 165 Code Confirmed By Me **

AMD opteron 148 2.2GHz 1MB 64/32-Bit (939) $261.00 minus $51 = $210

AMD opteron 146 2.0GHz 1MB 64/32-Bit (939) $227.00 minus $66 = $161

I just picked up 3 of the 165s and got three:
CCBBE 0610DPMW chips

These are known to hit 3.0GHz and beyond pretty easily. As of 3pm today, they had at least 70 in stock.

Cheers!

I ordered a 165 recently from newegg and got a horrible stepping, it maxes out at 2.4ghz. This is tempting but I'm hesitant to take a risk. :\

But have you yourself gotten these to 3Ghz?

I have not. I will be using air cooling (my old custom waterblock rig - whitewater - won't fit on this board and I'm not feeling like rigging up a watercooling system in this case)

I will report back once I get it up and running (looks like Wednesday or Thursday at this point).

That said, the Antec P180 would be freaking great for watercooling.

I just googled and saw a few people @ 2700, a few stuck at 2500-ish.

It's all about what you want out of it - and at what temperature / voltage.

Ditto what he said...I ordered some stuff back on May 26th and still have not gotten a shipped confirmation and have sent several emails without one response!!

BTW...my 146 I got from Tank Guys is running at 3Ghz with stock voltage with my Big Water cooler...and temps have been hovering around 28c idle and 40c under load!!! Love that chip!

So you already have the CPUs ? Usually it takes them a few days untyil they ship and arrive.

I ordered from Monarch a few weeks ago (last time they had Opteron 165 for $270 with coupon) and got the same stepping CCBBE 0610DPMW. Like everyone says (check out xtremesystems.org forums) it overclocks great. I'm currently running 9x320=2880 MHz 1.47V 45C load temps on air, prime stable, and that's without really trying to push it (I haven't even tried going higher).

But note that not everyone gets the same stepping, even a few weeks ago they were shipping the CCBBE stepping for a few days and afterwards they started shipping other steppings which were not as good. But at least it seems to be in batches, that is everyone gets the same stepping until the run out and start shipping from another batch.

BTW, if what people say about the charge before shipping thing is true, I'll never buy from Monarch, no matter how cheap their prices are. That ain't right. So you're taking my money to buy more supplies? What if your supplier doesn't have any in stock? So you're just gonna take my money and do whatever when I'm out hundreds or thousands, which I could've used for something else? Seems real shaddy.

Monarch is one of the best computer hardware e-tailer. They are very reliable and ship promptly. But it's not easy to cancel an order (you have to fill a form or send email).

Evidently for some charging before shipping (and delaying of shipping) is a problem. Not for me. It's a bit irrelevant for me, however, since I went there in person to buy it (I'm in Georgia - either I pay tax or tax+shipping).

I do agree that they are a reputable e-tailer and have been so for some time. Any degredation in service should be brought to their attention so they don't lose their reputation (I'm sure the higher-ups would appreciate it).

I bought it at the B&M monarch in Georgia. They ship from that store and another one (I don't know where the warehouse is).

I'm excited to hear how successful your overclock was and I'm hoping for similar

Looks like they're going down hill in the past 6 months. Only 7.67. While some people have bitched out Newegg's new S/H policy, they still have a 9.55 in the past 6 months, which means Newegg ships it out fast, has better customer service, and is easier to cancel and RMA orders.

Ps. Monarch has one of the worse webpage layouts out of all the e-retailers. WTF.

I too have just had another incident of Monarch charging me for a new AM2 processor listed as "In-stock" the same day I ordered on the 31st.
Processor still In-Stock on the 1st, no ship.
Processor still In-Stock on the 2nd, no ship.
Processor lists as ETA June 30th for the 3rd and 4th, no ship.
Processor lists as ETA June 30th on the 5th. Get an email from customer service? saying they never got shipment of the processors from AMD due to manufacturing issues and that they would let me know sometime in the next two weeks when I might get a processor shipped from them. Nice inventory management. Meanwhile, my CC has been charged the entire time.

Meanwhile all the other parts I ordered the same day from alternate vendors have not only shipped, but are sitting on my kitchen table.

They don't get another chance to play like this with me.

Great prices every once in awhile like these are carrots on a stick IMO. Hopefully you aren't counting on them for delivery in a timely manner though.

I will say this. The only other time I ordered there (also took 4 days to email me that the "In-Stock" really meant "not really in-stock") they did manage to refund the charges to my card in only 5 days as opposed to the up to 7 they quoted. Right on man.

<edit> Just got my cancellation notice. No apologies or sorry we could not please you. Apparently it will take 15-20 days to refund my money this time. I am betting it took more like 15 - 20 minutes to take it in the first place. <edit>

You are lucky, it took them 1 month to refund my money after 5~6 phone calls and emails.

Newegg is very very easy to cancel orders... but I wouldn't worry about Monarch charging first... They're very good, not one of the companies you need to worry about.

It's practically guaranteed that your CCBBE will do at least 2800 MHz. Just make sure you have a good motherboard (e.g. DFI) and memory. It WILL do 2700 on stock 1.35V voltage (no need to increase CPU voltage). So you can BOOT UP with 300 MHz FSB (HTT 3X, Memory 2/3 divider, everything else auto) -- NO PROBLEM. From there it takes about .1 V for each 100 MHz on average, for example 2900 on 1.5V (but some can do 3000 on less).

Ahh, after all my bad experiences with Monarch, and many telling me I was crazy, RR is finally starting to paint a true picture. Monarch is going downhill fast.

I love their prices on deals such as these...but they usually take 4-5 business days to ship out my products, and always charge me before they ship. They also sent me a mobo/cpu combo that was guaranteed pre-tested working with the latest BIOS...it had an old BIOS that didn't even support the chip that was in it when I received it. I had to flash it myself to get my system working.

If you don't mind waiting almost a full business week for Monarch to ship, these deals are great. Hard prices to beat.
