Yes there have been a few $1.50 for the 4X lately, but since I don't care that much about the speed this is a better deal for me it seems.

homey, 22 mins (2.4X) compared to 14 mins (4X)...that is..I'll do the math..hang on calc is coming up..8 mins. Say you backup 5 dvds per day that is 40 mins per day of more burning time. I thought you were busy nowadays. I'd wait for the 4X to go back on sale.

Have you not seen the comments about Fuji rebates? They "lose" more rebates than seemingly any other rebate house. But at least they mail it out if you call them on it. Seems like the 'ol rebate trick of if you don't call them about it, they figure you probably don't remember or care.

I am assuming that you want to play movies, I have had 100% results with instantcopy. Recordnow Max may work as well but I dont know about it. Also if you use Nero, there is a X-Box compatibility box to be ticked in DVD-ROM UDF mode, might want to research that more as well.
