link better or add to wish cart and post link to wish cart.
dual core: Arctic Cooling Freezer should be enough; for quad core, xigmatek s1283 if u want to overclock.

I approve all your picks

Though i personally wouldn't get that PSU; i don't get along with 80mm fans due them either pushing no air & being silent, or pushing decent air, & being not at all silent.

dont link newegg if your gonna buy.

List the parts out.

Reason is now that 100 people saw it, the prices on it will go up.

Newegg has a counter. The more hits, the counter raises the price to compensate.

i would personally recommend the OCZ Vendetta 2 for your CPU cooler, but the xigmatec S1283 will do the job just fine for cheaper, though in tests it cools about .1 degree c warmer with the same fan and thermal compound. also, a 500GB 7200.11 (the one with the 32mb cache) barracuda will outperform the drive you linked. if you want more space though the 1tb one will preform the same with twice the capacity.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822148274

ed: also get a coolermaster 750 watt PSU. it has a 120mm fan in it which will be much quieter than yours and do the job better with more connectors for cheaper

Where did you read that? My understanding was that the WD 640GB outperformed the current round of Seagates.

@ the OP: As others have mentioned, that PSU is anything but silent despite its name. I would look for a 750W from another company like Corsair. Speaking of which, Newegg does not tend to have the best prices on PSUs, so shop around.

we see it all the time when a hot product comes out and someone links it.

the start of the day someone will link it.

at the end of the day the item is bumped 30 dollars.

this is seen EVERYTIME.

this is the only thing about the EGG i dont like.

Another thing, some sites have a froogle price match counter. Meaning if you froogle the item it will be cheaper.

Example. Google ARC-1680ix on froogle. and look for ewiz -> now newbiz.com
Look at how much its listed on froogle via link and direct on newbiz.com .

hardware bought cheaper only makes you happier!

I have to agree about the hard drive. The WD is a good drive but the Seagate 7200.11 or any of the high end drives with a 32MB cache would do better. Also, since you are going with all high end components get yourself two drives and stripe them, there is a very noticeable performance increase especially with the Intel onboard RAID controller which is quite good. If you are concerned about reliability you can get a third drive for parity or just to back up the small amount of the data that is important. You should have a backup plan anyway, not just for RAID0.

Again, based on what? I haven't seen any benchmarks to that effect.

Just thought i'd comment because your system is ending up so close to mine - like everyone says, look around for prices and don't assume Newegg has the best on every one. For example, got the P5Q Deluxe from Mwave.com, it was $15 cheaper when the respective shipping costs were factored in.

My rig:

E8500 Core2 Duo
Arctic Freezer Pro 7
Asus P5Q Deluxe
8Gb Gskill DDR2-1066 (2 x 4Gb kits)
Corsiar 520HX PSU
1 x WD740ADFD 74Gb raptor OS drive, 1 x WD6400AAKS 640 Gb for programs/data
Visiontek Radeon HD4870
Antec P182 case
Saitek Eclipse keyboard
Logitech MX518 mouse
BenQ G2400WD 24" monitor

Total price incl. shipping just a hair under $2100 - i think I got some good sales, but I probably got taken on other items once I started buying. My patience went out the window!

Good luck

spending less money on the same thing always makes people happy.

There should be no loyalty when it comes to you spending your own money.

The only loyalty there should be is to yourself.

So why pay a store loyalty when another store a click away is cheaper and has good service?

i like mwave.

i also like Ewiz, now called newbiz.

Tank guys, if you need a specific stepping. Also there service rocks.

Lagoom is showing promise as well.

Thenerds.net is another great store.

I also like directron and local frys. :T

use search engines.

Anandtech has one.
Pricewatch
Pricegrabber
Froogle.com
Mysimon.com

Always double check with resellerraitings.com on a store.
NEVER assume a store is perfect.

Shop smart to the end. Not just on the recomendation of parts.

Again, based on what? I haven't seen any benchmarks to that effect.

I've had both in the same system and ran a couple drive benchmarks. I don't have the Seagates anymore but they were faster than the WDs.

I think TH did a direct comparison if you search you'll find.

Usually no one drive wins in all areas and I've returned several Seagate 7200.11 drives due to problems and I've bought three WD (500GB 5000AAKS SATA2 16MB) with no problems so that might mean something. I also recently bought a Samsung Spinpoint 750GB drive with 32MB cache and it also benched faster than the WDs.

We're not talking huge differences here but given the prices are all pretty close I would recommend the Samsung or the Seagate in this case.

It would make more sense that people are actually buying the part at that price, since it is a good deal and they compensate. It may be automated, but I doubt it has anything to do with "hits", that wouldn't make much sense. It would make much more sense that it is based off of actual sales and inventory. So linking a good deal probably will help bring up the price, but just because more people are likely to buy it after looking at the deal.

You dont say what you want from your rig...

Artic cooling freezer pro seems to be a good hit. Great price too.

Dont skimp on the psu though.

Nah trust me.

There was a funny product, at start day it was 5.99
no one would buy it because it was a funny product. But was linked here on AT.

End of day it went up to 15.99

I like the egg, i just dont like people linking it, expecially if its something there gonna buy. Linking something like it on this forum means its gonna get hiked expecially if its a hot topic.
