Okay...so as I said in a previous post, I was having trouble getting a modem installed. Well...I kept working with it, and at one point, the machine locked up hard. I rebooted, and it booted into windows with SVGA as the video...and now I can't seem to change it back to my Voodoo 5. I have no friggenclue what to do. Most of my drivers didn't get loaded...and I don't know why.

Should I take it to a local computer repair shop?

EH? you mean vga mode. uninstall the drivers and see if it will boot normally.

mm.. I would uninstall the Voodoo drivers, boot, re-install Voodoo drivers, boot. If not working.. format c:\ /q /u ..but that's what I would do.

the /U switch is an unconditional format.

It's kinda hard to unistall the drivers when they aren't there.

also, noticed, it isn't loading drivers for sh*t...no soundcard, no usb, no nuthin'. I'm going to take it to a pc shop later and install a new hard drive (been meaning to), and upgrade to 2k. Sound good?

That would work since you said you need the upgrade. Are you showing any drivers in Safe Mode? Also have you tried to run the detect hardware applet?

I know...I know.

Computers are my passion, and yet, I have horrible luck (in general) with them. I rarely screw things up or have major problems, but whenever there is a problem with an A)Hard drive, or B)Modem...all hell breaks loose, and I have no idea why.
