not that money will be a big deal for families of the 2 that were indicted (both families are already out the bail money($40k each), but will they also be out a semester of tuition/books since they have been suspended?

Or will Duke let them make up missed assignments and complete the classes if they are innocent? one would think that a semester's tuition has to be a pretty nice chunk of change...

What the lay public often seems to forget is that there's a difference - often a huge void - between the truth and what can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Date rape cases, in particular, are very tricky to prove, but the fact that a person is acquitted doesn't necessarily mean he didn't commit a crime.

But by the time the alleged victim left the party, about an hour after she had arrived, the second dancer noticed that the woman appeared to be under the influence of some substance. In a call to a police dispatcher at about 1:30 that night, which was made public last week, one of the first officers to see the accuser said she was ?passed-out drunk? but ?not in distress.? She was taken to the hospital some time in the early morning hours of March 14, where she underwent a battery of tests. Robert Ekstrand, who represents 33 of the lacrosse players, declined to comment on the matter.

When asked about the alleged victim?s evident intoxication the night of the party, District Attorney Mike Nifong told NEWSWEEK several weeks ago that her impaired state was not necessarily voluntary.

Extremely difficult to prove when health professionals say that it appears a sexual assault did in fact take place. Just because it can't meet the reasonable doubt standard does not mean she lied. This false report thing is probably just a pipe dream.

Great, just what we need to do, encourage baseless claims of sexual assault with no responsibility for false claims. Date rape cases are difficult to prove and consequently easier to make flase claims about. The fact she makes a claim or rape doesn't mean a crime was committed.

OK, on the serious side....this case is frickin absurd.
The media have made it so big because its a racial ordeal.
I haven't seen or read anything that would lead me to believe the stripper.
Her story has more holes than swiss cheese.

This is what I think happenned.
They get into arguement about something.....the boys probably called her names(even racial stuff)...even some needless touching and such......she leaves angry, then accuse rape.
