I am looking to buy a laptop in the coming days, it will serve me mostly as a multimedia notebook, with light gaming (think warcraft, football manager). My budget is less than 1000$. I am coming from a HP Probook 4540, so in terms of general ergonomics and experience, that is going to be my baseline.

I will try to be brief in what I am looking for:

Screen size: 14 inches or less preferable, 15.6 max but only if something extra is there (like good discrete GPU, lower price etc)
Screen Resolution: 1600x900 minimum, fine with 1080p
Design: Should be relatively thin and light. Not ultrabook light or think, but manageable (less thick and less heavy than 4540).
Maintenance: As long as battery is accessible, I am OK with other components not being upgrade-able.
RAM: at least 6 GB.
Storage: SSD or at least it should be easily able to accept and be compatible with 9.5mm/7.5 mm SSDs like Intel 530/335, Corsair Neutron (these are readily available to me)
Battery Life: 6 hrs of web browsing or roundabouts and I should be very happy
Other: If I could use it as a pseuddo tablet (like the yoga or flex)I would like it but not very important.

I am sorry if these are too long. I hope you would be able to recommend me something. The closest that I could find is the new Inspion 7537 (i7 4500U, Gt 750m, 8GB, 1TB HDD, accessible components, great design and looks good). But it has issues in upgrading to SSDs, problems with wifi, and keyboard.

Thanks.

Lenovo Thinkpad 440s or Ideapad U430...maybe Yoga2, though you're better off just getting a tablet for a couple hundred bucks. Asus has aproline of notebooks out at BB not sure of the model numbers. Dell Latitude 7000 series 14 (The inspirons aren't same build quality as your probook).

I have very similar requirements, and I've been looking closely at some of the Lenovos. Especially the Thinkpad T440 series. Looks very nice for the price

But I have not been able to find any laptops with "mouse buttons" for the trackpad. Have everyone completely stopped with the buttons for the trackpad? I hate the issue where the cursor move when clicking! Really don't want to spend $1000 and have to deal with that. What are my options? (except plugging in a mouse..)
