I did not think North Korea (if involved as some suspect) had it in them. Last week I read this hack of Sony will cost the company at least $100M. They have already changed the movie in response to what has happened. I think this stuff is going to massively increase demand for the movie, though. I really hope Sony or some theater chains don't withhold this due to what has been threatened in Engrish.

Back them up... on what? Let's say they make good on a threat, we loose a few hundred people to some bombs. You can take a military response off the table, no one is willing to pay that price. No one outside NK wants to see Seoul obliterated.

Until a laser system is deployed, which can stop hundreds of objects simultaneously, the price of retaliation is far greater than anyone is willing to pay.

It is fairly ridiculous. But on the flip side, it's not like we're talking about The Godfather or Casablanca here; this movie looks like deep-fried shit. Even the people who made the movie have backed off it like "fuck it, don't show it, it's garbage that's not worth starting an international kerfuffle over." I just wonder why they green-lit the thing in the first place.

Unless one or two of the three largest chains back out the film will still release. The real concerns aren't that a physical attack is probable but more about any potential risk, no matter how small, and the perception of risk on the part of the public going into the holiday week.
