Ah, forgot to post my team after our draft 2 weeks ago. This is our first year with punters, and it's been kind of pointless so far. mistakenly drafted the SF second-string punter, had to switch him out the first week, hehe. I picked up Buffalo's punter, who grabbed 11 points against Seattle in week 1, only got me 3 points yesterday. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the team so far, though I never wanted Addai, and he has sucked so far. As always, my receiving corps is pretty strong
This week's starters:
QB Philip Rivers
RB Joseph Addai,
RB Ronnie Brown
RB/WR Steve Slaton
WR Calvin Johnson, Det WR
WR Bryant Johnson, SF WR
TE Antonio Gates
LB Lance Briggs
LB Manny Lawson
DL Dwight Freeney
DL Robert Mathis
CB DeAngelo Hall
S Adrian Wilson
DB Terrence McGee
DP E.J. Henderson
K Neil Rackers
P Brian Moorman
Bench:
QB: David Gerrard
WR: Reggie Williams
CB: Champ Bailey
DE: Julius Peppers
LB: Terrell Suggs
We've always done individual defensive players, which has been great. The starters show the actual positions we need to fill, which is new this year: usually have DL spot and DB slot that we could fill with CB, DB or S. Now, we need individual CB, DB or S to fill those slots. Extremely happy with my defense. Few players have been more consistent for FF scoring on defense than Adrian Wilson over the last 4 years, so I drafted him early. Some dipshit dropped Mathis first week, and I snatched him off of waivers. He's been a sack machine ever since he joined the league, mainly due to the health of Freeney, of course.
I benched Bailey this week hoping Hall would have a favorable match-up. Lost about 3 points on that, and was caught sleeping after picking up Slaton for RB this week when the Huston/Baltimore game was canceled. I picked up Manny Lawson at the last second, and he blocked a punt for me. I'm going to drop him to try and claim Sproles off of waivers...gambling that he'll get more touches after the first 2 games. Though, I imagine he'll be a popular pickup.
Even with Slaton starting on a bye week, and losing ~5 total points to bench players, I should end up with 3rd-best points this week. Now 2-0
Odd thing: as soon as a game starts, Free Agents immediately go into waivers and remain there until Thursday. Kind of blows, but it does make waiver priority worthwhile. Seeing as how no one ever found a use for waivers, this adds something new to the league. It was unintentional, but I think we'll get used to it. It's also our first year doing football through ESPN...which we've largely hated for baseball.
