Most brazen is Robo's Theme and the Rick Astley-sung songs of Never Gonna Give You Up and Together Forever. I notice the intro to Robo's Theme bares considerable similarlty to the backing accompaniment in the middle section where there is no singing in Together Forever. Unlike the others, which could be argued as "inspired by", the nature of Robo's Theme would cross the line in plagiarism, to giving Astley would get a cut if Astley was aware and ever chose to sue.

As a tangent, image or "anti-image" matters in the selling of music. There are those who buy the latest, and then those who pride themselves on buying anything but the latest mainstream. Regardless, the cold truth, is that it is not merits of the music, but the "image" that sanitizes some consumers. Both viewpoints are mere selling points for companies.
So some think they're all better because they listen to "composers" instead of "pop" but it's "disguised and adapted" pop in video game music if we're talking Chrono Trigger.
