Yeah those damn cities and their clever innovations. I'd prefer a world without cities and the modern technologies they develop. Phones, internet, electricity, cars that don't pollute and are faster than those muscle cars. But seriously, population density leads to innovation and cultures sharing ideas and everyone benefits. There's nothing wrong with trying to make things operate more efficiently.

. Smog reduction has ruined the auto industry
Do you realize how much faster modern cars are than muscle cars pre smog? They're also safer, more reliable and get better gas mileage. And I'm not even talking about the electric ones here.. the Corvettes, Porsches, Mustangs etc even.

It's always the mega-dense cities that ruin it for the rest of us. Smog reduction has ruined the auto industry and robbed us of true American muscle cars... Water conservation has ruined clothes and dishwashing machines that used to give us clean clothes and dishes after pumping countless gallons of purified water through them... They started putting far less bullets in gun magazines for the same reasons....because some big wig in NYC was concerned. I might as well move to Canada.

Literally none of this is true.

It was a joke. But the EPA seriously does try to push more regulation on the country, as a whole, because of the more populous cities. The water conservation is the biggest. I threw smog in there because it's becoming a wheel tax in a lot of places...but one I gladly used to pay. (because it got the smoking clunkers off the road)

Honestly, my biggest complaint with newer cars is that they don't feel as solid (because they're made out of so many non-metallic composite materials) and metal body panels are getting thinner and thinner. I have a Toyota that has dings all up and down the door....it looks like it survived a horizontal hail storm because the panel quality is so unforgiving to door dings.

Back on topic, I would totally go with an EV for my daily commute if gas wasn't under $2/gallon. I'm just glad they're making the decision to start investing in the technology and making the commitment. It should start turning the industry on its head as more major companies make the jump.

Two things that keeping me from EV/Hybrid. 1. manual 2 price.

Volt is still a bit too expensive and finding charging station is still not easy. I hope it will come down about $5k.

Insight or CR-Z? I don't think there are others and I don't think I have seen a decent one for 4k.

Insight. The Civic Hybrid was also available as a 5MT, and is easily good for 50mpg (at least the first-gen).
