Alpha PAL8045 for $29.99

I think i'm gonna hop on this deal and replace a Tt V6cu+ which is almost unbearable on this rig i built for my folks over the summer... I want to pair it with the Panaflo H1a but all i can find are the L1a's.. it's for a 1.4 t-bird.. i guess the L1a would be good enough since i'm not overclocking it..

point being: Where can I buy the Panaflo H1a's?

Checked the full size copy of PAL8045 dwg on the AK31A mobo. It looks like the green cap near fan header #1 will be partially under the hsf, but there is a machined recess on the bottom at each corner of hs and the top of cap should clear, if not it won't require much filing of hs. It also looks like the spring loaded mounting stud on the system fan will interfere with hs, but a little filing or dremeling of hs should take care of that also. The other option would be to replace the fan on the system chip with one that is bonded on. It looks like it is a go.

My PAL 8045 from SVC had half of the white coating on all sides of the fan shroud peeling off. Isn't supposed to be white? After several email exchanges, they finally mailed me another, but it's still got a little bit peeling off on all sides. Is it too much to ask for a good looking HSF they way it's supposed to come from Alpha?

BTW, before I ordered teh 8045, I emailed SVC a couple times asking about their fans and never got a reply.

lol , it's supposed to come off. in fact you are supposed to take it off before you do anything with it. almost all metal is wrapped in that stuff when it comes off the line. it's just there to protect the metal from scratches and stuff until the end user gets it.

I picked one up a few weeks ago from SVC. Best price, quick and cheap shipping. My total was $40 and change with an optional fan and shipping. I got it with the 48cfm YS-Tech fan, very quiet for excellent performance. I was able to squeeze another 66MHz out of my 1GHz AXIA (now 100% stable at 1.466GHz) and yet full load temps are 5C lower than with the extremely noisy CAK38 I was using before, even at the higher speed.
The other nice thing about the 8045, because it bolts onto your mobo, is that you KNOW that this HSF will never fail.

Will this be a cooler setup than my FOP 32 on a XP 1600? I am running fairly cool now (39/43). But you can never be to cool! And then there is the fan, which do you pick for it to be quiet, yet effective? Decision, decisions, decisions!

On my PAL 6035's, I've always left the white on. It never even started to peel off in the least bit so I never knew it was supposed to come off. The directions didn't state to either. Looks better white to me.

With my four case fans, a little more noise won't really matter Hope it's as good as all the reviews and I hopeit goes allright with my 8kha+ and xp1600 that's on the way!!!
