+1 on Costco. You can find decent brands cheap.

I always recommend straight leg fit. It's timeless.
Tight is horrible fad. And Relaxed fit isn't much better unless you are fat. On normal people, it looks like a denim trash bag.

True, though it also depends how relaxed things are. All American Clothing has a fit guide for example to help you pick out the right fit.

The most relaxed are their carpenter jeans and cargo pants.

Got these in black. It was $43.80 after tax. I don't like paying that much, but whatever. Interestingly, the black are stretch and a lot of others are not stretch (Something I didn't realize until I just got home and saw 'Stretch'). That would explain why these were so much more fucking comfortable than the others. I was like, "Woaaah... I can actually do shit down there. I ain't just walkin' like a stiff legged cowboy now. Yeaaaah!" Luckily, black is also my color. I thought I was just fluking out and got a sweet pair of pants.

I am 160+ and bought a pair of "relaxed fit" jeans and they actually were too tight on me compared to the cargo pants I normally wear. I guess I am more used to non-denim since it's been about 10 years since I wore a pair of jeans. Back in that day I wore Jnco baggy jeans.

I'll sing the praises of Gap jeans forever. (sign up for their mailing list, they send out 20-30% off coupons all the time)

I hate Levi's, though, so feel free to discount my opinion... the idea that I need to "wear-in" my jeans for weeks before they become remotely comfortable bothers me. off the shelf, I find Levi's to be really stiff and uncomfortable. maybe they're magic after a few weeks of regular wear, but I've never managed to get past the discomfort stage to reach that point.

Not a fan of Gap since their canvas wears far too quickly for me, but I will say Levi pissed me off when they randomly decided to shrink the 527 jeans. I had a pair of 527s I bought 3-4 years ago that fit perfectly from day 1 and got me plenty of complements. I recently went to go buy some new pairs of 527 and they all were skin tight in the thighs and crotch, the skinny jean fad spread to boot cut as well! I had to switch to Silver brand jeans, only boot cut that is close enough to the 527s I had.

Maybe it was just a bad batch or the 527s I had were a little too large when I bought them, but from what I've read online I'm not alone in the issue.

They don't seem to make/sell them here anymore but I think I have like 5 pairs of Levi's 517s (low rise, tight leg, boot cut) that I find super comfortable. If you often wear boots instead of running shoes/sneakers, the larger leg opening helps. Plus, I can easily fall asleep if I'm too tired to change before going to bed so yes, they are comfortable.

I'm 6'0" and 143 lbs, if that helps.

I hear Union Line's carpenter jeans are fairly loose so I will try them. I had to return my pair of AAC Carpenter jeans even though they felt tough.

You need slim fit jeans with a taper since you're kind of skinny. Get something like levi's 511, 501 stf, or 513s. JCP has their own brand of jeans that fits a little more snug that 514s. They're cheap though. I think it's like $22 or $25 a pair. Target has an offshoot brand called denizon and they make a pair that fits between the 501 and the 514. I can't remember the number. Those are pretty cheap also.
