Alright, My final $580 gaming system most likely. Should everything work together properly? Recommendations?

Be very sure to give that video card a good work out as soon as you get it. Make sure it doesn't die as soon as it gets a little hot, etc.. Newegg only guarantees refurb parts for like 15 days. I've done the refurb thing from newegg on occasion and gotten some good stuff *except for video cards*. The two times I tried refurb video cards they were both totally screwed over and barely functional. Probably a string of bad luck, but still. ^^ You might want to consider the For Sale/Trade forums instead, I've had only good experiences there.

It doesn't come with any kind of oem warranty? Maybe the extra money for a new one($184 or so) would be worth it.

These drives are pretty ancient, but will hold me over til I grab a cdrw/dvd drive+ another 512mb of ram if they will work with the system.

Are they ATAPI 1.1 compliant? If not, ditch them, XP doesn't like pre-1.1-compliant opticals. I've had really major issues trying to use an ancient 6X creative IDE CD-ROM with XP, for that same reason.

I'm not familiar with those model numbers, and you didn't list the speeds. If they are 24X or faster, they're probably more-or-less OK.

They work fine under windows xp on the other machine, but not sure on the ATAPI 1.1 thing. The DVD-Rom appears to be 8x40x(almost positive). The CD-Writer is 16x10x40x

I just ordered a bunch of parts from different places and for what it's worth electroseller.com has free shipping on everything they carry. don't know if they have what you need though. xoxide.com and mwave.com also had equally fast shipping, but it wasn't free. all my stuff arrived safe and sound just like the parts from newegg.
