It's a headphone-plug <-> RCA cable, the same sort often included with portable CD players so they can be plugged into a stereo's AUX input.

The speakers are pretty good, it's even a little surprising what you get for $20..

I got these a week or two. Great product for $20. Went from some el cheapo Gateway 2.0 speakers from long ago to this set. Games sound great now and DVDs sound so such much better.
