I've been playing a varity of stuff (Blues, Alt-rock, Classical, Avant-garde). The bass is really well defined. I just played Moby's Porcelain, and the changes in pitch on the electric bass that plays the melody were nicely defined (sounded like scaled-down version of the first time I heard it, which was at a King's game in the Staples Center), and if you know that track you know the bass is really low. The bass on that track had no definition with my other speakers (or power for that matter). If your looking for something thats going to give you house shaking bass you're going to need a sub, but for musical purposes I would say these are more than enough in most cases. The speakers really shine with classical or instrumental (highs and mids are awsome). One review I read said that they weren't good for rock, but I've played material from both bands they played (Dave Matthews and Coldplay) and it's sounded great. I don't know how they would sound with something like rush or slipknot or something like that though.
