Alternative to motherboard standoffs?

Hello all, I am a few standoffs short to begin install for the new pc. I was just wondering if there is an alternative that you guys use instead of the standard brass, (which I have), plastic, etc. standoffs?

Case wasn't retail? Well, I got by once by putting one of those pieces of foam from that came with the motherboard underneath the board to keep it from shorting until I could get more standoffs...

Hrm, I think that system is still like that...

Put a string through each of the holes, tie a knot at the end (underneath the board), and suspend the board from your ceiling. Then, run the cables into the case.

I keep a roll of double-sided foam tape around for situations like this.

Just cut a few one-inch pieces, and stack/stick them on top of one another to create a temporary/permanent mount for practically anything.

I use a hot glue gun for glueing wires so they are hidden etc. Mabye that would work. Last option tho.

Actually that's an awesome idea. A whole computer suspended in the cealing. Imagine the cooling though, plenty of air flow since it's all exposed. Only downside is you'd need a ladder or chair to put something into the cd-rom.

If your standoffs are the nice screw-on kind, see the little lugs next to the serial and parallel ports on the mobo? Those screw off and are, in my experience, the exact same size as a mobo standoff. If you need more beyond that, consult video cards.

this reminds me of the time i was working as a tech and a guy brought in a new pc he had just built. he put the peice of pink foam (that came in his MB box) in the case, put the mb on top of it, and screwed it into the case. no standoffs, just a pink foam/motherboard sandwich. I charged him 2 hours to rebuild it just because he was so stupid.
