Well, I have about a month to make a decision. Our contract with Alltel expires mid-July. If iPhone was on another carrier, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. AT&T just seems like a rip.

Oh don't get me wrong; I don't think there's really anything wrong with it. But it's still not a Smart Phone.

Haha, no its a real phone

Looks like a cheap iPhone knock-off -- plus it's on Sprint. Double suck.

i had an iphone and for me its not that good. As i use skype in conjunction and iphone can only run one app at a time making it useless to me. but it does have a large community with alot of 3rd party programs. Nokia n95 is spec better, way better but less of a community

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_N95

iPhone is better for one reason marketing...

everything apple makes is 2nd rate but they know how to market... but right now iPhone is the best for a cell phone i think i havent had a regular cell phone in about a year, but mad expensive.

at this point you could probably buy a gen 1 iPhone for <$100 and mess around with it to see if you like it.

Thats what I'll be doing if Apple/Att turn buying a gen 2 into a cluster-fuck as it seems like they are.

The iPhone is, for me, the best when it comes to the OS. I'm largely a business user, and though many business features are lacking, the increased productivity I get from it vs. a SmartPhone or similar is worth the sacrifice. The SmartPhone has more business features, but so much of it is just so cumbersome that the effort isn't worth it.

I hope this next version of the iPhone gets it closer to where it needs to be for business users.

wait a week or 2 and the prices will fall on ebay. Or go to craigslist. Gen 1's will not be selling for $400+ for much longer.

Thank god i sold mine for $400 before wwdc

LOL, you're joking right? If anything, the fact that the first gen iPhone can still be activated through iTunes and won't have the restrictions found on the iPhone 3G, PLUS the fact that it will get the 2.0 software makes it still attractive.

Hell, I sold an 8GB iPhone with major water damage under the screen for $230 on eBay a few weeks ago.

Granted, the new iPhone 3G has been announced since then, but I doubt that prices will fall that fast.

I don't know why some people don't consider the Voyager to be a "smart phone" or what really constitutes a "smart phone" but from what I can tell, it can do pretty much the same amount of things the iphone can do, it has a full keyboard, touchscreen, etc.

That said, I don't understand the fascination with having a "high end" phone in the first place. Who the wants to surf the net or play a game or send an email on a 3 inch screen?

I just want ring ring ring hello good bye.

But to each their own.

I'm up in the air here. Apparently Sprint is a joke as far as service goes. AT&T is expensive. I haven't heard much about Verizon. A lot of my friends are on it. Our company also gets a discount on that carrier, too.

I like the idea of GPS. I travel a lot, or at least try to, and it'd be nice to have
