or go on to omahasteaks.com and search "leykis" and it will pop up, or you can search "44435CWY". There is another deal for $99 but I think this one is better. I think the deal is very good for quite a lot of meat. Sure its OS but for that price, i dont mind spending for all that meat.

Did we ever conclusively determine what constitutes "alternator-sized" in the general context of "meat"?/:hmm:/:biggrin:

That is not a good price once you consider that the bulk of the meat is in hot dogs, meat balls, and hamburger and once you knock off the potatoes you are talking about nearly $9/lb for the rest. Pork chops are $1.69/lb. Hamburger usually runs $3-4. That bag of meatballs is usually about $5 for the whole thing. Those chicken friend steaks are cheap as well. Then throw in a 5lb bag of potatoes for $3 and damn is this overpriced.

Depends on where you order from ... Omaha Steaks are a tad expensive IMO but the quality is decent.
Or at the very least "consistent", so you pretty much know what you'll be getting. And in many places, "really good" meat isn't all that easy to come by locally at any price...

I really like Omaha Steaks. As said, a bit pricey, but consistent. It's nice for the convenience on occasion. Be warned though, once you order from them, they stalk you on the phone.

If you're willing to take out a second mortgage (and your house is worth enough ), you might want to check out Lobel's, too. I've never been able to bring myself to buy from them even though they're local to me, but they certainly are the darling of the well-heeled "foodie" crowd. (Not to mention the even weller-heeled crowd that pays no attention to cost (of pretty much anything below 5-6 digits) at all, for the sake of having "the best" simply because they're rich enough not to notice much less care, so why not?)

Sounds like one of those 20 steaks for $20 deals that sounds like a great deal at first but might not be all it's cracked up to be.

Actually their steaks and burgers are pretty decent quality, they are just small portions for the price (steaks that is).

The secret to good steaks at home: go to Costco or Sam's, and buy a whole rib-eye or strip loin in the vacuum bag. Put the bag in the refrigerator for 4 weeks. Unwrap, cut into steaks, and (if you have one of the little home units) vacuum-wrap and freeze. Vac-wrapped steaks will last up to a year in the freezer; Saran-wrap and a baggie gives you about 8 weeks.

This is what's called "wet-aging"; there is no air in the bag and so there is not decomposition, only tenderizing and breakdown of connective tissues. DRY aging is a lost art - it requires a dedicated cooler set at about 55 degrees, and after 4 to 19 days, one slices off the prodigious mold from a hanging side of beef and cuts steaks.

Both methods produce restaurant-quality steaks at Costco prices ($6 to $7.50 per pound) depending on market. Most mail-order steaks are just un-aged Costco packer-bags pre-cut for you. Sam's steaks are Angus if you think that makes a difference.

Never again. They called me a few weeks after my first order, I told the guy I wasn't interested. The next day, someone else called me, I told him I wasn't interested. The next day, another guy called.........I finally snapped and told the guy they lost me as a potential customer and to take me off their phone list.

Guess what happened the next day?

I'll keep that in mind if I ever order from them. I use my Google voice number for sketchy places.

Not for me, not good ordering meat online lol

I don't like the idea of mailed meat however the one time I had some Omaha steaks & chicken it was sent to us after we bought our house. They were packaged very well and very frozen when they arrived. The steaks were better than I expected for frozen food but no so great I'd order them. I can't remember what the chicken tasted like.
