Looks cool, but I need something flatter that you can put on your lap with the laptop. This looks like it needs to be on a table what with the angles on it.

I just got the nk 360 also available from that site. Nice and flat and thin and I really have to strain my ears to hear the noise from the fans. The blue lights at the front are pretty bright though so that might annoy some people.

I think the delineation is between a mere 'notebook wedge' [which anyone with some plexiglass and rubber stops can build] and an active cooler. I am looking for an active cooler, since the 'wedge' I made out of cd cases didn't help enough. Plus, I think it is annoying having my laptop on a slant...

Hehe, that and the fact that the majority of his posts on this board are geared towards marketing for hardwarecooling.

Funny how as soon as the price was lowered again, he comes on to inform everyone of it.

Hondapower, if you do work for them, why don't you have them give AT a killer deal so more people will buy from you?

I want to get a few of these for my office laptops, but right now I just 1 for my own .

Sorry, your little common sense fooled you. The aluminum would do a good job as a heatsink for better conduction. I had tried my burning hot Lattitude on a stainless steel table. In less than half an hour, the bottom of the laptop became just warm.

You will notice a big difference with this Aluminum Notebook Cooler compared to the other ones on the market. Keep in mind that since it's made out of aluminum it helps disperse the heat quicker than plastic made notebook coolers.

Geez, who're they trying to fool? It only takes a little common sense to figure out that's a bunch of BS. These coolers help by providing air circulation underneath the laptop. All the stuff about how it acts as a heatsink (yah, through the plastic notebook casing and the plastic/rubber washers) is just plain silly.

But it's a good price nonetheless for something like this. Best Buy had a Belkin model for $9.99 AR a few weeks ago, but I don't remember if it came with fans or not.

Fan Size: 60mm x 60mm x 15mm
Fan Speed : 3200 ~3500 RPM
Air Flow : 40 CFM
Noise: 25 dBa

60mm fans pushing 40 CFM at 25dBa? Highly doubt it.

I bought mine from McGail for $20 delivered; no problem at all with the purchase.

the aluminum would make a good heatsink if the notebook actually had direct contact to it. look at those nice rubber stands. heh.

You look at any self-respecting enterprise-level network switch witha MTBF of 3,000,000 hrs and it will have fans drawing air as well... this is actually more efficient in drawing air I think [and quieter] than 'blowing' it into something [better 'flow']

Actually, I've worked in computer rooms for 26 years now, so I know a little something about the hardware. I decided to give this one a try, but went back to the plastic one. The HHD temperature was the same using either cooler and the plastic one is much quieter. Oh well. BTW, I've been very happy with the service I've been getting from these guys.

Thats the idea!!! Dont forget to prop your laptop up a few inches to allow increased airflow underneath.

My friend purchased the plastic ones and I purchased the aluminum ones and the Aluminum ones actually cool a bit better than the plastic ones.

So does this kind of cooler work in cooling the laptop itself than merely the bottom of it so u can put it on your lap? Because my laptop overheats like crazy when I play games like Battlefield 1942, and the game starts to lag very bad when the heat is too high!! So I am looking for kind of cooling solution to fix that. So again will this kind of cooler work in my situation and keeps the laptop from overheating? Thanks

Well if your laptop is slowing down due to CPU throttling (due to heat) then anything that reduces heat would help.

Was the laptop run in the same condition that caused it to get burning hot? You're basically claiming rubber and air is an excellent conductor of heat. As for cooling the internal components, you can add a layer of plastic and another layer of air between the two. Try that with a CPU and tell me if that makes a burning hot CPU warm.

Sure, the aluminum base will help some. But I doubt it'd do much to lower the temp. of the internal components. If you're going to get a notebook cooler, might as well get an aluminum one especially if it's cheaper than the plastic.
