Always tired...

For a while now I always seem tired. Even if I get 8 hours of sleep I wake up and feel very drowsy and want to go to bed. I used to work 12p-11p type of jobs and now I have a 7a-4p job (started a few months ago) so maybe my body isn't used to it.

I have gained some weight and have started trying to workout to try and get it back down so that could be it too.

Also, I have somewhat bad nose problems where it is hard to breathe out of my nose so maybe when I sleep it isn't very 'good' sleep. So many variables....

Anyone ever have this problem?

My suggestion is to try and get more exercise. It will do you a world of good.

Also, try to avoid taking naps in the afternoon or evening. If you are working 7-4, you should probably be going to bed around 10pm every night to get enough sleep.

Could be a lot of things

*dehydration (you'd be surprised how many people do this)
*sleep apnea
*inconsistent sleep
*depression
*eating dinner too late

etc.

I need my 8 hours and am a nazi about it. I do too much during the day (work/watch daughter/train) not to get good sleep.

Eating right and some light cardio exercise will boost your energy like crazy.

Put some plants in your room too, the extra O2 they produce helps some as well.

It should only take you a few days, maybe a week, to adjust to a new schedule.
I went from a 2-11p to a 9-6p and would fall asleep at work and when driving.
This went on for about a week.

Here is my advice, from someone who has gone/is going through the same thing.
Most of it is common sense.

1. Go to bed at the same time regularly, weekends included.
2. Exercise!
3. Do not exercise a few hours prior to bed (common sense).
4. Get a good mattress and pillow. Sleep on your side and not your back.
5. Get that breathing problem fixed. Go see an ENT specialist or sleep center.

Why do you suggest sleeping on your side vs on your back? To alleviate the note breathing problem?

Most of the suggestions given here are good and should help if it's a minor issue, but don't rule out seeing a doctor if it persists for very long. Not to be alarmist, but from personal experience these symptoms could have a real & serious medical explanation. I doubt it's anything serious but If you want to know more shoot me a PM.

1. Trying to do
2. Same. Trying to do.
3. Sometimes I excercise right before, bad thing?
4. I actually cannot seem to fall asleep unless I sleep on my stomach. I know it's bad for my back, but I just lay on my back awake.
5. I've had two nose surgeries (one I had anastesia (sp)), but I still sometimes have trouble getting airflow through my nose. My nose was broke a long time ago (so they told me) and nobody knew about it so it healed wrong and might have some kind of effect on the breathing.

Yes

Might want to see a doctor and make sure that isn't part of the problem. It might be early onset. Knowing this and being aware of what you eat could help you feel better.

I might add that you should wake up at the same time every day as well, including weekends. Get enough sleep and don't oversleep.

Exercising right before bed makes it harder to fall asleep.
Your body needs to be in a more relaxed state to get restful sleep (lower body temp, lower heart rate, etc.).
Exercising does just the opposite.

Sleeping on your back makes sleep apnea worse (for those who have it).
I don't know about sleeping on your stomach though.

No, don't do that. Plants take away O2 at night.

proper hydration makes a huge difference. I often work out a few hours before bed and it doesnt have a negative effect on my sleep. You could always take some melatonin before bed but that's not addressing the root cause of your problems.
