Am I an asshole?

So a few years back, I designed a website for someone I know, a business website that displayed their products and stuff. We never signed anything, over dinner, she asked if I would do it for $500, I said yes, designed it, hosted it for 2 years, etc. She never paid me though, and I reminded her a billion times but nope, she didn't. Anyways, over 2 years, traffic to her site got much much larger and I told her I am gonna skip the $500 if she pays me $50 for annual hosting. Well her answer was no and she told me how she owns the website now and I can't do anything (obviously retarded and doesn't know jack ****** about internet). Well, as of last night, the site redirects to Pat Robertson's website in a 98% frame. This is quite bad cause her site audience is %90 left-wing (as her and I as well).

I am wondering to myself, is Pat really that bad, should I have redirected it to the tub lady?

Oh, and am I an asshole?

i would think you have apotential for getting in trouble with redirecting it.

he made it for a business. did not do anything about payment for 2 years. now makes a fuss over it. I would think if she can prove a loss of business from this she could sue him over it.

Best thing the OP can do is just suspend it. redirecting is a bad idea.

Since you want to be paid, you need to act like a professional, simply close the site and put up a notice that states this website has been closed.

I don't think you're being an asshole for redirecting, but it's not a professional response. Why did you waited 2 years before taking action?
