This is the dumbest shit I've heard. If someone asks me if I want something and it cost $42, I give them $42. WTF? Am I tipping him? The understanding is, it's a favor and he's doing it as a nice gesture. If you're doing it to make some money, FU. I'll get it myself. And don't ask me for any favors, because I'll have to charge you.

I would never accept money or pay extra in this situation regardless of my role. You should definitely make a comment. It doesn't have to be confrontational and overtly rude, but calling you cheap for this is completely stupid.

That's the odd part to me. Evanston is only about an hour to 1.5 hour drive from SLC. I made that drive daily from Layton in the early 80's. No biggie. Drive up, load up on cheaper booze...and fireworks, drive home.

Yes... I do go up to Evanston Often to get my usual suspects....once a month maybe. Unfortunantly, I cant ever find ten fiddy's there.
