Am I getting a normal CPU temp?

Hi,

I have a 1.2 Tbird with a GlobalWin Fop-32 (I think thats what it's called), and Actic Silver 2

Idle, I'm getting about 51-53C
Full Load (This is with non-stop hours of playing CS), I'm getting ~59C
And I'm not even o/c'ing

Is this normal for my cpu? it seems a bit on the hot side to me.

And my second question is, Is there anything I can do to reduce the temp a bit? Would a Case fan (other that the one thats on the power supply) help any? Is there a better cpu fan out there?

AMD says under 65C is ok...but you are definitely running HOT! avg. 1.2 temps from similar posts i've seen range between 45-55C at full throttle.

sounds like you don't have other fans though? a great cpu cooler doesn't do much if there's no other fans to take the cpu's hot air AWAY from the cpu!!

what case do you have?

normally, you want at least 1 fan sucking in from the front and a second fan (OTHER than the psu fan) blowing out the back...thereby creating a nice "stream" of cool air, that will also exhaust your cpu air. that would help your temps significantly.

your HSF choice (as well as using arctic silver) were good ideas, i think you just need some more case fans

Thanks for the advice.

I'm using just a generic case right now. I saw that it had an area for another fan, but I didn't know if it was nessesary. I'll look into getting it, so I can achieve that stream effect, and hopefully it'll take my cpu temp down a notch or 2.
