Case, PSU, CDRW.

Skip the anti-static wrist strap. Just touch the case before handling components.

Do you plan to OC?

oops Antec Sonata..I forgot to include it and I dont think I need a cd drive, ialready have the other one.

No, I do not plan to OC. Only because I'm new to this whole thing and I don't think I'll need to do it since I'm not gaming.

I agree with the wrist things. I buitl five computers and never had a static problem as long as you touch the case with both hands before installing anything in it.

Nothing wrong with using a wrist strap. Better safe than sorry, even if the chances are slim that you'll kill anything after grounding yourself to the PSU and all... *shrug*

I mentioned the CDRW (CD read/WRITE) thinking you may want the ability to burn your own disks. Or a DVD R/W would be even better.

By the way, I have the same MB and CPU. Nice system.

Any particular reason you picked the Quadro?

If it were me, I'd swap in a couple of fluid-bearing drives in place of the Western Digitals, which are often ball-bearing and can sometimes turn banshee on you. :Q Those Hitachis are supposed to be fast and quiet...

The CD/ DVD drives are updated with links. Any links for that fluid bearing drive, mechBgon?

The quadro is because I'm kind of on budget all though right now my total is $1,330.

Any suggestions on any other ones in the price range under 260?

If you're on a budget, don't waste it on a Quadro without good reason. Are you using specialty 3D modelling applications like Maya or 3DSMax or something? The Hitachis in that size range are all fluid-bearing to the best of my knowledge. I recommend using Parallel ATA and not SATA unless you're confident of your BIOS skilz, because sometimes motherboards can be a little tricky to configure for booting from an SATA drive.

No I'm not using any 3d modelling applications. No, I'm not confident in my BIOS skills, definately not. Whats a better video card?

For the Hitachi's which one is better?

Number 1

Number 2

Number 3

Number 4

If your answer is none can you supply a link. Oh and please suggest some Video cards that are better.

Thanks

if youre looking for a good video card for not too much cash, the geforce fx 5700 and the radeon 9600 pro are good buys... the quadro is the wrong card for a general usage system

You can ignore anything and everything stated below:

Hard Drive: Personally I would recommend going with Seagate, may just be a personal thing though

Skip the Wrist Strap

Skip the regular CD Drive

You don't need a high or even mid-range video card for video editting.
Get a basic 64 MB vid card.
I may be wrong in saying all you need is a basic one, but i think even a low end 128 MB card would be more than adequate.

if cost is an issue, get the fx5200... its like 55-60 bucks. i didnt notice that you werent going to be doing any gaming at all...

oh, and as far as hard drives, ive never had any issues whatsoever with Maxtor... ive used them for years. WD is okay too. capacity all depends on how much pr0n you plan on downloading. i mean, how much video you plan on editing.

Most rarely get up to 52x unless you push a button telling the drive to do it. They usually default to 48x.
