Well see, the accord does not have a sports car pretense, where as the mustang does.

Besides, the I4 accord is faster than the V6 mustang anyways.

I may just need to do that. Still urks me. May i ask a question. Are you one of the v6 ford mustang drivers?

Nope. I just don't get why someone gets all worked up over something like that.

Its kind of the same feeling when ATOT'ers get all worked up over a rice'd civic or honda.

A Civic is a Honda.

Those cop cars probably have V8s in them with a chip enhancing performance...automatic or not, they will catch it if given time.

the dual badges on the back of that car lead me to believe that it is most definitley a pre 99 GT.... I'd also think it to be manual... either way, mustangs got a lot better between 98 and 99, just as between 05 and 05.... that said, I have never heard anything good about a 93-98 v6 mustang...

and for everyone busting on the car for loosing in that... just remember... he has to accelerate from 0 back to 85 while the police never lost their momentum. I call that video a valiant effort by the crook lol

If someone has not pointed it out already...the first mustangs came standard with a I6, so 6 cylinders is a natural in the "stang.

I totally agree. Ironically, I drive a '94 v6 automatic mustang. I bought it because it was cheap, it keeps the insurance down, and it was in great shape. But i would love to have a 94 5.0 manual or a 69 mach 1 428 cobra jet.

If it was an auto then how did he manage the spins so nicely? With a manual you could push the clutch in to keep the engine from dying and then let it out when he was facing the right way... I would think it would be harder in an auto... not sure though

I bought my V6, automatic mustang before I knew better.... (before I was 18). The automatic transmission is the smoothest shifting automatic I've ever ridden in, it has no problem out handling most of the nuts on the highway, and it's overall more reliable than the GT.... gets much better gas mileage too....

Next car will be a restored '81 vette 4 speed t-top

I've owned 2 Mustang GT's and neither of them were autotragics. It is a fact that the automatic transmissions Ford put in the GT's (at least in the 80s and 90s) was the most worthless POS on the planet. If I were to buy another Mustang, which I probably won't, it would not be an auto.

It doesn't concern me in the least when I see V6 Mustangs on the street. It also doesn't concern me when I see riced out Civics with fart can exhausts, giant stickers and huge clown wings.

BTW-The 2 GT's I owned were both decent cars. Fun to drive and reliable.

I thought they pit'd him acouple times. I have to look the thread up in the bit to make sure it wasnt manual.

[edit: Well, for sure its a v6 but im not sure if its auto or manual now.]

I'm sure someone else mentioned this, but mustangs are now the car you buy your daughter for her sweet sixteen. That's why they aren't fast or loud, and a lot of them are totalled.

i have a 93 5.0 and it's an auto
why? it was cheap!

still hauls faster than 90% of the cars on the road and by the time the tranny blows up I'll pop in a nice new t-5 or t-56 and zoom zoom it

My Mustang is a 4 cyl automatic . It's horrendously slow (I think 1/4 miles are somewhere in the 18-19 second range ) but has been very reliable for me.

Here are my reasons for buying it.

1) I wanted RWD
2) I needed a winter car (the Trans Am sucks in the snow, plus salt on old paint = bad)
3) I needed something that was good on gas (30+mpg) for long drives and doesn't suck premium
4) I got an awesome deal on it ($200 including tax, title, registration, and plate) - couldn't pass it up
5) It only had 42k miles on it when I got it :Q
6) Replacement parts are EVERYWHERE and CHEAP, cause people are always wrecking / parting out Mustangs. And the Fox body Mustang was in production for 14 years (1979-1993) so there's plenty available. The body style of mine was produced from 87-93.
7) Lots of room in the engine bay - very easy to work on.
8) The 2.3L 4 cyl engine was put in tons of different cars, has a proven reliability record, and has been in service since the 70s - so all the bugs have long since been worked out of it.
9) Lots of information about it online, so I can go there whenever I need information on something regarding it.

To date, my 1992 LX has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I drove it for almost 3 years now (mostly in the winters) with no problems (up until a few weeks ago). Now it's got 65k on it, and needs a water pump, cooling fan motor, A/C compressor clutch, and driver's seat. Less than $100 worth of parts from junkyards and Ebay. Weird that it all seemed to happen at once though.

The v6 and older 4 bangers are what make the v8 versions so affordable. If they didn't sale so many 6 bangers you wouldn't be able to snag a new GT for just a hair over $20k. I being a real man have a 5.0l and a 5 speed .

^ just beat me to it. They sell more v6 versions and if there were no v6 versions youy wouldn't have the v8's. It's a necessary evil. I say the best solution would be to get rid of them all. Starting over with the 2005's of course.

Alot of people say that Ford jipped the buyers on the newest mustang. Cheap o look. I get examples of what im talking about in abit. One i know is you can see the mufflers rust pretty good on the newest stang because they arent hideen like the older models.

Twista yes it does make me cringe when I see a mustang. I think to myself wow i feel really sorry for those guys driving those stangs I mean my almost bone stock 94 trans am can whip on almost every factory mustang made since 1979 with the exception of some cobra models. And then i feel really sorry when i think of how bad those same cars would get beat by the 98-2003 ls1 cars.

Those v6 mustangs are what saved the car if it were not for them the mustang sales would not be even close to what they are. Now before you try to give me crap that the f-body is no longer produced it will be back in 2007 in at least the camaro variation. And remember ford took the mustang off the market for a while. If you still want to argue go to a lot that has a used 4th generation v-8 f-body and take it for a drive and see what you are missing out on. The mustang is a good car for what it is i.e. cheap. And they do sound very nice.... By far the worst thing about mustangs are is they are like a** holes everybody has one. The same v6 and automatic v8 cars that saved the mustang name make it one of the most common cars out there. I hate having something else that everybody else does. My 94 is a 25th anniversary edition 1 of 2,000 made and due to people with more money than brains that number goes down every year. There have been at least 100-200 of those cars totaled already. I have yet to see another car like mine on the road. Where i see about 20 mustangs every day going to and coming home from work.

But look on the bright side you have a car with huge aftermarket support and dirt cheap parts. That is really easy to work on if you actually do that yourself.

Remember there is always going to be somebody out there with a better faster car than you so maybe you should thing of that next time you look down on those v6 mustang drivers. The ls1 cars are faster than mine but us f-body owners generally treat eachother with respect and a good ole thumbs up from a guy in a f-body coming towards me makes my day. Hey maybe I'll give a thumbs up to a mustang driver from time to time too.
