People want to use the term dossier in the negative context.

What ever anyone's length is; is due to their actions alone and no one elses.
Attempts by a member to lay the blame for the record is just a deflection on their part.

Many times; Moderators may send a PM to a person that does not get records. This is to try to nudge proper behaivor with making a big deal on it.

GA, Mosh, Nick and others have this happen to them many times; they just feel they can push the envelope and not fear the consequences

I've been on the receiving end of many of those "informal nudges" myself over the years...as well as a few warnings, infractions, and maybe even a vacation or two...I imagine my "dossier" here is still pretty minimal...especially if compared to my FBI rap sheet...


None the less, I have no problems with the mods or other administrative staff. For the most part, I've earned each one of those warnings, infractions, and vacations...well, ONE vacation I didn't think was justified...but I still served my time without too much whining, wailing, or teeth gnashing...:biggrin:
Overall, IMO, the moderation here is pretty lightly applied...and usually, they err on the side of fairness...to the members and to the membership in general.

I don't expect that we members will ever know without a doubt what happened. I'm inclined to believe the "official story" over what Gaynor says that GA has told him...(They's Kiwis...you know how they lie...)
The admins have admitted that the original problem was their fault...but it's what the "ATOT Three" did once they found out the door was unlocked that has created this shitstorm.

Fascinating. My hours were not wasted.

As someone who has always viewed this place as a great way to waste time, I never had any idea of the undercurrents that have been flowing beneath my feet.

Honestly, it all seems much ado about nothing and centered more around interpersonal conflict. At the end of the day this is a forum on a respected tech review site that has to maintain standards. Some people seem to forget that fact as they never look at the tech side of the site and, like me, use it as a simple form of amusement. To that end people have been appointed to preserve those standards.

As far as I can tell, some in charge have allowed personal feelings to get in the way of professional duties... if you can call it that.

It's really hard to digest all the back and forth but that's the impression I'm left with.

GA is not privy to that info between those two.

As his brother said he may not have it in an "unsolicited way" but he was solicited for this information. That's a fact and he complied.

Unjust 'vacations' give one even more animosity ... it doesn't make them 'think more'...

i've got 2 infractions (worth about 9 points each) that IMO were given unjustly because 'they look at your history' instead of the issue itself.

this doesn't give one incentive to 'think more next time'... when people play the Jump To Conclusions game.
