Having a discussion with my brother at the moment about the whole thing - I'll update people on what happened as I go.
It seems like he was banned over some pretty banal stuff....

There was no abuse of power, just false accusations made by a person who let his emotions get the better of him. If you really want to find out just ask Olds, we disagreed a lot but he's honest and I think he'd verfiy what I'm saying. Now if you were to question me as a team player you'd have a good argument, I wasn't and is why I'm no longer an Admin and that's fine. Life is much better for me here that I don't have to deal with the BS, both internally and externally.
You know after years and years of being a member of the staff being part of the backroom running of the site gets kind of addicting, enough to make you forget what it's like just to be a member. I mean it's interesting and all but there is also a lot of crap that you really don't need. If you were to ask any ex staff member they'd probably say the same thing, they are all glad they are no longer part of the staff. It's like this thread and drama, I'm sure the staff is really hating this. They are all under attack for doing what they felt was right. Agree with them or not, most aren't being vindictive, they are just isolatede from the membership and develop and Us vs Them attitude, something that often happens with Cops. It's not that they are assholes,in fact for most it's the opposite, they feel that they are constantly under attack and devolop what is called a Bunker Mentality. Keep in mind none of these people get paid, aside from the occasional hand me downs from Anand that may or may not work.. You definitely need to cut them some slack

Mosh just had a laugh about it... I have a feeling she must have shared the info with somebody else. If she didn't, then yeah, the 6 month ban + apology does seem to be a bit much.
Actually the last stuff I got from him was alright, a Netbook which I'm posting on right now, a 1 TB HD that's in my WHS 2001 Server and a CPU that I "didn't sell on the FS/T Forum" which is running strongly in my sons system. none of us know the content of the PMs...so it's word against word.
Honestly, most of these mods tend to be stand-up people worthy of trust, some have their vendettas, clearly, and as much as I like GA, despite his tendency towards dickishness, it wouldn't surprise me if he actually copied and forwarded something.
However--I want to believe Gaynor here, it strikes me that GA wouldn't have much reason to take actual info...but then again, that's just his story.

I think it should be made clear that the mods are deliberately using language designed to make this whole thing seem a lot worse than it was. GA poked around in a few threads, and some people PM'd him asking what kinda loot he had found. He hadn't gone out and "disseminated and distributed information" in an unsolicited way, and there was nothing to distribute and disseminate anyway.
Another example is the mods using language like "forum breach" - there was no breach in the way they're trying to convey. That language makes it sound like someone went out and hacked their servers. They left the front door open, and a couple of people had a quick look around.
The whole thing is just a mountain made out of a mole hill TBH.

I've been thinking about that for a while.
I'm here to say that most of them were not true and the ones that are happened a long long time ago when there was a lot of shenanigans going on by the staff.
