Am I the only one who doesn't find Stephen Colbert funny?

The guy looks like he works in middle management at GE or IBM and nothing he says makes me laugh. Is he a real comedian? Is the fact that he looks like he's a middle manager supposed to be part of what makes him funny?

not nearly as good as TDS, he's a little too meta for my tastes. unless he's interviewing someone interesting, I usually just delete it off the dvr.

I love the show. I don't usually have the patience for TV, but I always enjoy Colbert when I catch him on.

Jon Stewart is funny, has wit, and is quick with a comeback. That must be his competitor, no? Colbert is the kind of person you'd laugh at out of sympathy.

He was very good when he started out with his show. Now he is relying a bit too much on gimmicks.

When he is funny, he can actually get a real laugh out of me. Most of the time, though, he makes me roll my eyes. I mean, I understand why what he's saying/doing is supposed to be funny, but I'm not really that entertained.

Absolutely not a competitor. Stephen Colbert got his start as a correspondent on The Daily Show, and being that he's on after Jon Stewart on the same network, it's not like they're competing for a time slot. Hell, Jon Stewart has said "stay tuned for Stephen Colbert and the Colbert Report" every single night since Colbert got his own show.

I think he's hilarious and I also enjoy The Daily Show as well as various other forms of comedic entertainment.

Not absolute competitor but relative competitor. I mean, when I think of Stephen Colbert I say to myself "This guy is no Jon Stewart."

It's funny once you realize that his persona is a satire on O'Reilly.
This explains why his show seems more gimmicky.

Stewart is more straightforward in expressing his views.

I prefer Colbert over Stewart most of the time, although I find them both entertaining. Colbert focuses a lot on the ironies and hypocrisies of government and media, from both sides of the table. If you can't stand to see your politics of choice get lampooned, you probably won't like Colbert.
