I think this movie is a lot better to people that saw it in there childhood, I have a friend that was shocked that we all love "Goonies" after she watched it because it was the first time she had seen it and it just didn't have the same nostalgia effect that it had on us.

this movie, along with The Neverending Story, were my favorite movies as a kid. they're both still in my top 10, and I can't wait till I have a son or daughter to show these movies to

when I was in 2nd grade, when we still lived in Portland, my dad took me to see all the places where they filmed this movie. coolest thing evar... I also know a guy who looks exactly like Chunk (if Chunk were in his early 20's). we make fun of him all the time with quotes from the movie

When I think of my fondest memories as a kid I think of this movie. My God, anyone who is in their mid to late 20's, and doesn't absolutely love this movie, is definately void of a soul. Either that or you never had a heart of adventure as a child.

Awww The Goonies. I just watched it in its entirety a few weeks ago. I've probably seen it 30 times. The Goonies and The Sandlot are two movies I can watch over and over....

I remember reading awhile back that in the the scene where they first see the pirate ship it captured their real reactions because they intentionally weren't shown the set until they actually saw it for the first time. I bet it was a lot of fun to work on that movie.

Everyone has seen the octopus scene right? I remember seeing the movie in the theater and wondering wtf Chunk was talking about. Was he just telling another lie?

And then I taped it on the Disney channel at some point, watched it, and holy $hit an octopus, woo!

Honestly, it's a great movie from my childhood and I love it still to this day, but I wouldnt say it's one of the best movies of all time.

I don't remember the octopus scene in the movie.....but it is one of the outtakes on my DVD.

Yah, it was neat because apparently the Disney channel was the only place you could see the octopus before the DVD came out.

A local theater just show this last night for free in the park. It was cool watching it with a ton of other people and having everybody shout "Goonies never say die!" along with the movie.

I think you've got a good point, I've noticed that with movies that I haven't seen but others have... That said, I did see Goonies in the theatres a few times as a kid and it's one of my all-time favorites
