Great list! One thing makes me wonder: Dr. Lisa Su said "more than 82 motherboards at launch." As of now, your list has 31, and all major manufacturers are represented. Where are the remaining 52+? I seriously hope this means there is a decent selection of ITX boards (X370 if possible, possibly X300 (if it's not a pure mobile chipset), and B350 as well) coming at launch, as well as a far greater selection of mATX boards.

does that 82 count include stripped/locked OEM boards by Dell, HP, etc...?

This isn't looking good.
  • ASRock: The specs say their boards support ECC memory, but the couple of manuals I looked at had no mention of a BIOS option to enable it, suggesting that they merely work with ECC memory installed but don't actually use ECC.
  • Asus: Explicitly no ECC support.
  • Biostar: No mention of ECC in the specs, and no manual to check.
  • Gigabyte: Explicitly no ECC support.
Asus at least usually support ECC, so does this mean that Ryzen itself doesn't implement it?

Any B350 boards with good phases and USB 3.1 Gen2? (Stupid Gen1, Gen2 naming...)

Or is this already artificial market segmentation? Not buying a new board without usb 3.1 gen 2 in 2017.

Pretty sure all B350 boards have 3.1G2, as it's a "native" feature of chipsets down to A320 (2 ports). USB-C seems to be a "premium" feature, though.

ASUS Has used dual mounting holes (AM3 & AM4) for their X370 Crosshair VI Hero, should help with mounting older coolers without a special bracket/adapter.

Hopefully other brands have done the same.

Hm, that's an odd one. Almost looks like it's only enabling the CPU's native USB 3.1G1 for the rear I/O. But not even providing a header for G2? That's pretty shitty. It's a built-in feature of the chipset, after all.

Yeah I saw that one because here I don't have such a huge choice of Mobos, at least not yet. On the other hand I have enough money to just buy an x370 one and not compromise.

Regarding the Asus memory frequency support: Asus' own "Edgeup" blog states that all four boards support RAM frequencies up to 3200. The specifications for the PRIME X370-PRO, however list 2666 as the maximum. Makes me wonder which source is the correct one now.

My guess would be that one is talking about officially supported speeds (which is 2666 across the board for Ryzen), while one is talking about "OC" speeds (that have been tested and validated but can't be guaranteed).

That is sad if true. I'm tempted to upgrade both my server and primary desktop to Ryzen, however, according to my math it'll cost me around $650 per PC after I sell my old parts. $1300 is quite a bit to spend on a largely unnecessary upgrade. I'd probably do it if Ryzen had proper support for ECC ram, but if not, I think I'll stick to my 4790k's for a few more years.

Too early to say for sure, but Ryzen should support ECC, they have that feature on their last CPUs, I doubt they would leave it out of Ryzen.

In a few days, more will be known, but for now...

The MSI B350 mortar looks pretty cool. I may get that for a mATX build. Even supports crossfire supposedly :O
