Thats what I used to think having worked for a big electronics retailer. You would be surprised at how cheap companies get these things for. When you hear that the markup is not that much, they are talking about store mark up, not company mark up. For example, say I am a purchaser for Circuit City and buy 1,000,000 nanos for all of the stores, I will pay $100 per unit (not sure of exact prices, but at those quantities, I know for a fact it is cheaper than that for the 4gb models) Then corporate will take orders from store locations and shcarge them lets say $200 per unit out of their budgets. So when you calculate labor, and overhead, it may not seem like much at all, but remember the store is only meeting budet, the corporation is making the profit.

If you try to order, which i did just to check the site out further, they'll give u a 'out of stock' message and you can choose to be notified when it is in stock - so from the looks of it they are most probably just after your email address!!!

Retailers do get them cheaper. But by agreement with Apple, they are not ALLOWED to sell them cheaper.

If they do, then Apple stops selling to them.

that's why it's hard to find a deal and you have to resort to the target 10% trick get one cheaper.

Another reason to be wary:

1and1 was the site that was giving away lots of free Web sites in the past couple of years (I know this because I have one). A company could easily get that and set up a storefront. It could be a legitimate pruchase from 1and1.com but I kinda doubt it.

Yes, it's a scam since apple only makes their players in black and white. However at least the site looks good, and I like the length they went into photoshopping ipods to custom colors and inventing names for them. If only the pictures didn't have white corners around them it would have been almost perfect. :thumbsup: I nominate this for the "best scam site of the year" award
