ive done skydiving but from what i hear...NOTHING...and i mean NOTHING can prepare you for a basejump. from the least to most scary...it goes skydiving....bungee jumping....base jumping...just nuts...plain nuts with that last drop in the middle of the street....but SO fvcking lucky...if it was a few seconds early or late he woulda been run the fvck over!!

I remember watching a special on TV about basejumpers. Apparenly a national park banned base jumping because it was too unsafe and as a protest these group of base jumpers decided to jump off this cliff and then be prepared to get arrested. Except one of the base jumpers messed up somehow and killed herself. And the jumpers are actually blaming the national park for her death. :disgust:

It was Yosemite and the woman was Jan Davis. They knew they were going to be charged. The rangers/cops said they wouldn't prevent them from jumping but on landing they would bea nd their gear would be taken/confiscated. Because she didn't want her 'top' gear to be confiscated she instead used her older gear and didn't remember how to use it on the way down (she thought it had a bottom of container pouch on the back instead of on the knee). So she ended up face planting into the ground.

i once watched this disaster show that covered a similar incident where this guy jumped off a cliff with the intention to go swimming or something, but he ended up skinning himself halfway down on the rocks and was in a near death situation. it's really scary to watch this after that... especially seeing that one guy did get hurt when he got caught in a waterfall (i suppose that's not the brightest idea. buildings appear much safer)
