Amazon and their shipping BS

So I ordered the Xbox 360 Live Membership Card they had on their Deal of the Day. I said what the heck. So I ordered it on Wednesday and they give me the dates of March 27, 2007 - April 6, 2007 for delivery. I click on the details and it shows it got scanned and ready for pickup by carrier on Wednesday. The thing is, it shows it's in Richmond, CA US which is only an hour away from me. Now it's Friday and it still shows it sitting there waiting!!! Something tells me that they do this on purpose to get you to pay for higher shipping!

Has anyone else had problems like this??!?!

of course they do this on purpose. I've had my package arrive at my local sorting facility in two days but because I used ground shipping they won't put it on the truck for another 4 days and there is no option to do local pickup.

If it made it to Richmond, it's the shipping company's deal. And most likely it didn't get the departure scan. It'll probably be there today.

...now, if you want a REALLY crappy Amazon ship story, check this one out:
In October I ordered three books. One was in stock, the other two preorder. Did the free shipping deal. They expected it to arrive mid-december. No biggie. Mid november they ship out and recieve preorder #1. (yes, all by itself), early December, I get preorder #2. Now, at this point, you might be wondering the same thing that I was.
..."Where is the one that was in stock?" or "If they were going to ship them seperately anyways, why not ship the one that was in stock?"

...instead, I get a message. That one that was in stock now has an estimated ship date of February. F' that. I just canceled that part of the order.

My solution was not to "upgrade", but to not shop there anymore. Actually, Amazon prices are usually more expensive anyways. I usually shop at newegg - everythings quick and price competitively

I have Amazon Prime (where most things ship 2 days), but strangely, although some things will arrive literally the day after I order them, very often, they take forever to process, and I don't get the item until 4 or 5 days after I ordered. I have contacted Amazon regarding this, and they always blame it on UPS, which is hilarious because UPS doesn't have control of the order processing.

Yeah, Amazon.com's prices are not better than Newegg for stuff that Newegg sells... but they do sell a really wide variety of stuff, and most of the prices are pretty good.

I actually standardly have the opposite with Amazon, it will show up in 3-4 business days (super saver shipping) but it will say that the estimated time of deliver is like 9-10 business days.

I get the same experience when I have them ship to Manhattan using the super saver, it will usually take less than 4 days.

can't you contact the carrier and see what the holdup is? you are quick to blame Amazon, which may be the case, but i'd like to hear the carrier's excuse.

It sure seems like they purposefully delay sending things out when you choose the cheaper shipping options so that you'll pay more for their upgraded shipping. That's just annoying. I tend to buy from other vendors that ship quicker if the price is close. Market competition and voting with my wallet FTW!

more than likely, it's marked as ground/slow shipping and prioritized at the shipping facility

I just had the same experience. Was kind of pissed that my stuff was suppose to come "March 26-March31" when I ordered it a week ago. Showed up yesterday.
