Well, their most recent Electronics discount just recently ended anyways. Your best bet would be to try and bid on some gift certificates at the most popular online auction site (from reputable sellers), or try and earn some gift certificates. I found this site while searching for free gift certificates on AltaVista:

If you are in a hurry, Mall.com is running a rebate through today. If you purchase more than $25, you get $10 in rebate. MyPoints.com is giving out 500 points to join Mall.com as well. That's not much, but heck, it helps to make it a small deal at least then!

I tried to buy the Sony V700DJ headphones while Amazon's electronics discount was going on; of course they sold out right as I was finishing checking out. doh!

Has anyone tried these Sony Earbuds? I got some free Jensen ones at OfficeMax and they were terrible. I am reluctant to try any others unless I hear different.

Yes, I have a pair. They're not too bad - for being ear buds. I also had a pair of Aiwa ear buds that were horrible - probably as bad as the Jensen's that you had. The Sony has a pretty good frequency response - 18 - 20,000 ?. I'd only buy them for $12.99 if you have some incentives because these same ear buds are only $9.99 at Best Buy.

There was a $20 off $100 coup for Amazon and then there was a $15 off 100. Both have already expired, so if you're looking for something for the Electronics department, it won't be a coupon. THe best you can do in terms of MORE of a discount is to use a refer-a-friend $5 gift certificate and you can get one right from the homepage (on the left side, there's a link for earn gift certificates).

I suppose this is a bit off-topic, but I guess not really: If you redeem Amazon GC's into your gift certificate account, or if you have some GC funds left over from a purchase, does anyone know if that balance ever expires? Just curious.

The balance expires whenever the GC is supposed to expire.

I would not leave a balance in your Amazon account. I've had several $5 gift certificates just vaporize in there (and before they were supposed to expire). Now, Amazon's website says promo gift certificates are supposed to be used at time of purchase, but when I tried to reuse them again (since I never used them in the first place), they would not work. I always top off anything around $1 with my Amazon Visa card. There are other cards that give good kickback as well.

Amazon GC expires 1 year after it's issued (NOT 1 year after you receive it since the company which gave you the GC might have it for a long time) or earlier if specified.

Well, technically Amazon considers all 'coupons' to be 'promotional gift certificates' which I like anyways because they are taken prior to taxation rather than after like 'gift certificates'. To clarify, it was $15 off $100 in Electronics and only until 10/27. This one does not metion anything about 1st purchase in the Electronics as the other ones have previously. It can only be used once per customer though.
