My servers running on an Asrock C2750D4I so its not got a very beefy CPU. Are you sure its not a network problem? You can also tell the plex server not to transcode the video stream.

Pretty sure. The server is wired and the stick had a good connection. I see in the player there are some transcoding options (when I login to the PC), but under server I only see under transcode some options like automatic or make CPU hurt. I don't see any way to force it to never transcode. The whole problem is that it seems to think it should be transcoding these files.

I made a mistake earlier. Hulu runs fine. Its UI does weird things when the stick has a poor connection, but I resolved that

Ravynmagi or someone else, I too would appreciate someone testing to see if miracast works or not. If its a headache and you do not want to try after a few attempts just tell me that, I just want to know if its easy to work and thus recommend or if miracast just sucks on this device like the other ones I tested.

I was hoping that Miracast would work from my HP Stream 7 (Windows 8.1 tablet) to the Fire Stick, but no luck. Maybe a software update will fix it at some point. (If you Google around, a lot of people have the same issue - for example, Surface Pro 3 Miracast to Fire Stick doesn't work either).

Miracast from Android seems to work fine though. I can turn on Screen Mirroring on the Fire Stick, then do "Cast Screen" on my Nexus 5 (Android 5.0), and that works fine.

Why not get just get Chromecast? It works real easy and it can mirror android devices.

I picked one up during the prime sale and I love it! It's replaced my chromecast since I only used that to queue up YouTube videos.

It's super fast, has the updated Netflix interface, plays SNES emulators, Badland... all in a $19 stick! And YouTube casting works great as well, it even turns my TV on and selects the correct input via HDMI CEC

Oh yah? I need to play with that. My dvr remote doesn't have a 'input' button. That would solve a ton of issues if I can get to to switch automatically.

I got two Fire Sticks for $20 each as part of the Prime promotion and I am simply ecstatic. This product is amazing. Not only can you watch Amazon Prime and Netflix but you can also stream from your main PC!! But that's not all. You can side-load any Android apps you want. For example emulators and old SEGA and SNES games... Maybe even Neo-Geo and PSX. They work like a charm with a wireless controller - the only downside is low storage, but whatever.... Just remove what you are not playing and install something else.


I dont get the silly whining from certain reviewers online...

1)But it doesn't support HBO... So what?! If you got money to pay for Prime, Netflix AND HBO, you should get something more expensive than the fire stick anyway.
2)But the interface is clunky... So what?! Your TV's interface is clunky too... and your DVD players as well... What's new?! Besides it's intuitive enough. And you can do a voice search through your cell phone.
3)The hardware specs are low... OMG, are you serious?! It's $20 dude! TWENTY DOLLARS. Oh, wait, you don't have Prime and paid $40? Well, I just saved for half of my prime subscription by buying two of these sticks at a discount. Something for you to think about when you say you don't need Prime...

Because there are things that chromecast can not do, or can not do that well. Chromecast works really good for entertainment purposes but sometimes you want to do things like presentations and such.

For me its that the fire stick is its own complete device. Chromecast is an accessory. Sure the fire tv app makes it better, but if I don't have my phone with me I can still use it.

You need the Chromecast app to mirror all content on your devices. Go to the Google play store and download the Chromecast app. Everything on your android tablet will be on the TV screen.

I was able to cast my Nexus 7 to the fire stick.

is this new? Used to be only chrome could cast to your chromecast, not the entire tablet.
